How Do Store Championships Differ from Regional Championships?
Regional Championship tournaments are top-level events that draw the best players from across hundreds of miles. After our World and National Championships, these are the most important events in our tournament calendar. In order to ensure that each Regional Championship maintains its larger, regional nature and measures up to the standards warranted by these high-level events, we plan to sanction fewer of these tournaments going forward.
The introduction of Store Championship tournaments means that every retailer has the opportunity to run a high-level event. Moreover, hosting a successful Store Championship event is the key to having your store considered as a candidate to host one of our elite Regional Championship events later in the year!
Applying to Host an FFG Organized Play Event
The application window for our 2014 Store Championships is now closed.
In the coming weeks, we will have more information about other upcoming opportunities for you to get involved with FFG Organized Play. Be sure to check our website for updates.
If you’re an X-Wing player or a fan of one of our competitive LCGs, the most important thing you can do is talk to your local retailer about Store Championship tournaments.
Store Championship tournaments are designed to support local retailers and their loyal player bases, but if you want to help your favorite local game store run the most successful event possible, you can volunteer to serve as a tournament organizer, help advertise the event, or help build a local player base by running demos.
Remember, your first-place finish in a Store Championship is worth a first-round bye at any Regional Championship tournament, setting you one step forward on your path to victory!
