Send Them Packing
A Warhammer: Invasion Card of the Week
Welcome to another card of the week preview for Warhammer: Invasion the Card Game! So far, we’ve seen three of the cards coming your way in the next Battle Pack, The Fall of Karak Grimaz. The Dwarf Grudgebearer adds power to himself every time a comrade falls, while the Master Rune of Spite makes all units in play hit themselves. Most recently, our skin crawled at the thought of Effulgent Boils, a Chaos support card with debilitating effects.
Next week, we’ll give Karak Grimaz a rest, and return to previews of the upcoming deluxe expansion March of the Damned. First, however, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to show off an especially powerful hero of the Empire hitting shelves in this next Battle Pack.
Wilhelm of the Osterknacht is the rare kind of card around which entire deck strategies can be based. This four-cost unit, featuring the Hero and Knight traits, lets you move your opponent’s units on every turn! To clarify, whenever Wilhelm attacks a zone, he can move an opposing unit from that zone to another... and since “attack” technically means “declares attackers,” Wilhelm can dispose of the opposition before they even get a chance to declare themselves as defenders.
So go on, move that pesky Clan Moulder’s Elite to the kingdom zone where it can never bother you again. Kick those Spider Riders to the quest zone... once they leave the battlefield, they aren’t much good, are they? For that matter, there is no shortage of units that depend on their placement in certain zones to be helpful. The Great Unclean One, Sword Masters of Hoeth, Troll Slayers, Savage Gors... the list goes on, and Wilhelm can send them all packing.
An obvious addition to any self-respecting Empire “control” deck, Wilhelm of the Osterknacht, coupled with older control cards like Forced March, will keep your opponent frustrated and on the defensive. But watch out, because your opponent will be gunning for him. How might you keep him safe? Share your strategies below, or on our forums!
