The Hunters Become the Prey

A Warhammer: Invasion Card of the Week

Welcome back to the Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game “card of the week” series, in which we spotlight a different exciting card each week. Last time, we took a look at Gustav the Bear, a formidable beast who thrives on the corruption of his enemies. Gustav, we learned, makes a strong “anti-Skaven” option, since his presence may dissuade Destruction players from taking advantage of the Skaven’s ability to corrupt themselves to power up in various ways (like the Clan Rats, for example).

Continuing in this vein, we turn our attention to another card all set to answer the Skaven menace when it debuts as part of this month’s upcoming Battle Pack, Path of the Zealot. For those concerned about the “Destruction only” restriction of the Skaven, fear not; Order players have their own exclusive neutral card type... the fearsome Witch Hunters. These brave crusaders venture into the dark corners of the Old World, ferreting out evil wherever it hides and dragging it into the cleansing light of day.

Like his Witch Hunter brother Marius the Righteous, the Zealot Hunter is an Order-only neutral unit. His special ability is potentially quite powerful, as he can quickly dispatch tough units under the right circumstances. Played against a mixed-faction opponent, he’ll pay off quickly.

Best of all, though, his special ability works against neutral units too (since by definition, no neutral unit matches any racial affiliation), meaning he’s great against tough Skaven heroes like Greyseer Thanquol.

Be careful with him, though. His special ability is forced, so if your opponent has no eligible target, he’ll have no choice but to target one of your units... or even himself!

Late next week, Path of the Zealot should arrive in stores, just in time to fill stockings on Christmas morning. Keep checking back for an exciting look at another card!

Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game is a card game by Eric M. Lang in which 2 players develop their kingdoms and lay waste to their foes. Each side is comprised of either the forces of Order or the forces of Destruction as they seek to extend their empire to include the entire Old World. The Living Card Game format allows players to customize their gaming experience with monthly Battle Pack expansions to the core game.
