X-Wing™ Star Wars™ 40th Anniversary
A Day Long Remembered
On May 25th, 1977, the world was first introduced to the Rebel Alliance, the Galactic Empire, and a wretched hive of Scum and Villainy when Star Wars™: A New Hope debuted in theaters. The X-Wing™ Miniatures Game invites players to assemble squadrons of their favorite ships and pilots from these factions, and immerse themselves in the Star Wars universe. Beginning May 25th, you're invited to attend a fun event and take home a unique prize to commemorate your fandom and the 40th Anniversary of Star Wars!
Contact a participating retail store to ask when their event is scheduled!
X-Wing Star Wars 40th Anniversary Events take place on May 25th or later.
40th Anniversary Celebration Prize
Introducing the combined upgrade card: An elegant prize for a more civilized game, which calls back to A New Hope and Luke Skywalker's destruction of the Death Star. Each X-Wing Store Championship Kit includes a bonus pack of 32 large alternate art prize cards depicting an X-Wing with R2-D2 dutifully aboard. This card represents a combination of two upgrade cards: the astromech R2-D2 paired with the Integrated Astromech modification.
Tailor-made for the T-65 X-Wing first seen in A New Hope, and also able to upgrade the T-70 X-Wing from The Force Awakens, this is the very first combined upgrade prize card. R2-D2 will keep your ship operational a bit longer, and when the time comes to discard the trusty droid for Integrated Astromech, flip the card over and admire the stunning 40th Anniversary commemorative artwork on its back!
Where The Fun Begins
Each participating store will host their X-Wing Star Wars 40th Anniversary Celebration on May 25th or later. Look for their in-store poster for the scheduled date and time inviting you to join in the festivities, or contact your participating local store for more information. The X-Wing Store Championship info sheet includes some basic details, but don't be surprised if your local store adapts or enhances their 40th Anniversary event with creative themes, game demos, or other fun additions!
• Everyone is invited to celebrate Star Wars and X-Wing, from beginners to experienced players. Bring your friends and family, and share your favorite game and fandom with them!
• If you haven't played X-Wing yet, this is a great opportunity to earn your pilot wings! Pick up an X-Wing Core Set or The Force Awakens Core Set, and come learn from other experienced pilots.
• Wear your best Star Wars costume or favorite T-shirt to show your fandom. Be sure to take plenty of photos playing with your squadron and send them to us on Facebook and Twitter!
• Attend at the scheduled time and play at least one game of X-Wing with another player. If you are feeling nostalgic, you could build a squadron consisting only of ships that appeared in A New Hope! The Epic format would be a great opportunity to deploy the Tantive IV™, 40 years after it debuted as the very first Star Wars ship to appear on-screen.
• While supplies last, each player that attends will receive one copy of the R2-D2 and Integrated Astromech combination upgrade prize card.
Check with your participating local store to see when they are hosting their 40th Anniversary Celebration, and if they are planning anything special for the occasion! It is also a great opportunity to find out when their X-Wing Store Championship is scheduled to take place during the May through August season.
