Assimilation is only the beginning…

Today we can announce the next Twilight Imperium novel from Aconyte Books – Voice of One, by Tristan Palmgren, is coming April 15, and is available to pre-order now. The ‘one’ of the title is SIL3NT – or Sil – an agent of the L1Z1X, about to find herself at the center of a clash between two superconsciousnesses.

Sil is full of memories that aren’t hers. Forced into servitude by the conquering powers of the L1Z1X Mindnet and given cybernetic upgrades to condition her, Sil becomes a cog in a superconscious machine bent on galactic conquest. That is, until her ship crash lands during a planetary exploration expedition and her body gives out, leaving her mind preserved for harvesting.

When she’s discovered by a mutated fungus from the Arborec, a collective consciousness who resurrect the dead to serve as envoys, Sil is suddenly caught between two very different worlds, and two very different masters. The Mindnet want her brain, the Arborec want her body, and it’s only a matter of time before one wins. But Sil is developing a mind of her own, and freedom has never looked sweeter… no matter the cost.

Voice of One is the first of a new strand of novels for Twilight Imperium – standalone stories each centered on specific factions from the Twilight Imperium universe. Sil and her increasingly complex relationship to the L1Z1X Mindnet takes center stage, while representatives of several other factions put in an appearance along the way. (And, if you’re curious, Aconyte will be introducing this cast of characters on their socials over the next few days.)
