Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce additional seating for the Legend of the Five Rings Inaugural Tournament and Celebration taking place on Thursday, August 17th at Gen Con!

Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game is a new Living Card Game® of honor and conflict for two players releasing in the fourth quarter of 2017, with a pre-release at this year's Gen Con. After being blown away by the positive response to the event from passionate Legend of the Five Rings fans, Fantasy Flight Games has worked with staff at Gen Con to significantly increase the size of the inaugural Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game tournament on August 17th! New tickets will be provided on a first come, first serve basis for a limited time only!

Additionally, the official Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game tournament taking place on Friday, August 18th has been expanded into two duplicate tournaments, essentially doubling the amount of players able to particpate!

The Kiku Matsuri

Previously at 350 seats, the Kiku Matsuri, also known as the Chrysanthemum Festival, was already one of the largest events ever run by Fantasy Flight Games at Gen Con. Now, the exciting event that begins at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 17th will be greatly expanded. 

Tickets will go on sale at 12:00 p.m. CST on Sunday, June 11th on a first come, first serve basis via Gen Con’s website here. Tickets will be available for a limited time only for both the Kiku Matsuri and the Friday event.

Each player participating in the Kiku Matsuri will receive one Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game Core Set from which to build their tournament deck, using the deckbuilding rules found in the Learn to Play guide included in the Core Set. Though two tickets are purchasable per person, only one ticket will be redeemable per player, meaning one Core Set will be provided to players, regardless of how many tickets they have.

Players with a ticket will check in at the FFG Flight Control stage in the Gen Con event hall between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 17th. We will then begin accepting standby players with generic Gen Con event tickets to fill any empty seats. Following the opening ceremony, enrolled players will receive one Core Set to build their minimum 30-card dynasty and conflict decks. The tournament is currently scheduled to end at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Thursday night. The entry fee of $48 includes the cost of the Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game Core Set that will be provided after registration. Prizes will be awarded ranging from participation to top finishers, and will be unveiled with our Organized Play announcement in July!

A Grand Celebration

The opening celebration of the Kiku Matsuri will begin at 1:00 p.m. where Gen Con goers are welcome to experience the pomp and circumstance surrounding the Kiku Matsuri. Those not participating in the tournament will still have the opportunity to purchase Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game from the Fantasy Flight Games booth in the main hall.
