Welcome to another “card of the week” spotlight for Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game! Tooth and Claw, the third battle pack of The Corruption Cycle, will hit stores shelves on Monday, and with it comes a score of brutal new deck-building options for Order and Destruction players alike. Today, we’ll take a look at one of the devastating new tactics that will be joining the formidable arsenal of Chaos!
The Rip Dere ‘Eads Off combo is a well established staple of many Orc decks. For players with an Orc/Chaos alliance deck, a popular move is to place the massive and expensive Bloodthirster facedown as a development, then later use Rip Dere ‘Heads Off to put him into play for one turn. Sure, you have to sacrifice your new Bloodthirster almost immediately, but you benefit from his attack before he goes, and at very little cost.
For veterans of Warhammer: Invasion, that’s nothing new. But what if you could get a little extra profit out of such a unit before it goes? What if you could sacrifice him early for an additional effect? With Tooth and Claw’s release comes a new Chaos Tactic that, among many other possibilities, allows just that. Brutal Offering lets you sacrifice one of your own units, to deliver a blow that could potentially clear the battlefield!
With Brutal Offering, you can sacrifice one of your own high-powered units to deal damage equal to its power to each unit in all battlefields. Like Troll Vomit or Judgement of Verena, this can be a great way to wipe the slate clean... and if you play it in the midst of a Rip Dere ‘Eads Off combo, you can use Brutal Offering’s effect to sacrifice your Bloodthirster before he’s lost anyway!
Tooth and Claw will hit shelves Monday, so be ready to add this awesome tactic to your Chaos deck... and join us next week for another Warhammer: Invasion spotlight!
Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game is a card game by Eric M. Lang in which 2 players develop their kingdoms and lay waste to their foes. Each side is comprised of either the forces of Order or the forces of Destruction as they seek to extend their empire to include the entire Old World. The Living Card Game™ format allows players to customize their gaming experience with monthly Battle Pack expansions to the core game.
For what it's worth, although it would of course be best with the Bloodthrister given its strength is the highest, the card is useful with just about any of your unit that is about to die. Your Chaos Knights have perfomed duty and have just taken their last point of damage in combat? Play this card and sacrifice them before the combat damage resolves to punch everyone in the Battlefield thrice in the face.
Also, this is never a table cleaner: I insist, it only works on units, and only those in the Battlefield.
Annie are you shilling wow stuff on FFG's site?
@ FFG, What happens when you play Rip and uncover a hero when you already have a hero in that zone?
Wow, that IS brutal!
For Chaos mono decks, this card would be also useful when you play Bloodthirster from your hand and you know you won't have any units to sacrifice next turn in order to keep Bloodthirster alive. Sacrifice it now and wipe out the opponent's battlefield!
No, Sacrificing is part of the cost. You Sac the bloodthirster, then each other unit in play takes damage.
That being said, yay, these will be here soon at least. That's better than them being really, really delayed I suppose.
This card is too powerful, methinks. But at least Chaos now has a Table-cleaner. Wow...super powerful card here. Yeesh.
Looks like Chaos will remain one of the top two decks in the game with this card!! Yowsa.
How does the timing work out? If I use this card to sacrifice a bloodthirster, is the damage dealt still uncanceleable or is the bloodthirster gone before the damage is dealt?
Monday? What the heck? It's already LATE - we all know it was supposed to arrive LAST WEEK. Now they quietly mention, "Oh this pack won't be available until next Monday??"
Wow, talk about lame. :( I guess it was too much to hope that these would come out in timely fashion. I'm bummed.
Wow! Cool! Very nice!
It's a few brutal no?
Is that Archaon on that card. I totally forgot about him. He was one heck of a figure to take down in the minis game. I hope he is not in Tooth and Claw lol.
Can't wait to see the set love the game.
