Mighty Sleepers

Scattered beneath ruins and in the deep vaults of Terrinoth’s strongholds are hulking stone figures carved in the likeness of men. They are the golems, unknown to all but the barons and the Runemasters of Greyhaven. No one knows when they were crafted or by whom, but they lay in wait until, in times of need, the sorcerers of Terrinoth use ancient rites to awaken the Golems from their slumber. When a golem is awakened, bright energy glows through the arcane channels in its surface and the giant strides forth like a mighty rampart given the will and strength to fight.

The Rune Golems Unit Expansion comes with two distinct Golem figures that players can paint to fit their own tastes, reflecting the rune energy that brought the stone sentry to life. Legend has it that elemental runes may also impart some of their nature to the golem’s temperament: aggression for fire, stoicism for ice, or cleverness for lightning.

Arcane Assault

Once fully empowered, these rocky titans are nearly unmatched in their ferocity and raw strength, scything their massive blades through the enemy’s infantry and cavalry with ease. With a cost of seventeen points for one, full battlefield formations of rune golems are rare, but they are devastating in the extreme.

These brutal, high-impact units are the most arcane-intuitive creatures of the Runewars universe. On the battlefield, the Rune Golems rely on runes for their movement and their attack modifier. The runes in play during a battle also determine the effectiveness of the golem’s ability. As a skill ability, Rune Golems may inflict stun tokens equal to the number of stable energy tokens in play. This is complemented by the golem’s command tool modifier that allows them to add one stable energy when participating in a skill or melee attack.

The stone giants also use stable energy to enhance their Brutal keyword. Each stable energy token on the battlefield increases the golem’s threat by one. Beyond these tokens, figurines, unit card, and command dial, the Rune Golem Unit Expansion comes equipped with eight available upgrade cards to bolster the Rune Golem’s defenses as they stand against the forces of evil.

Protect the Realm

Terrinoth’s sentries will stop at nothing to destroy the enemies that threaten the Daqan, and then return to their hidden slumber until called upon again. Awaken the Rune Golems and protect the Realm from the crushing tide of darkness!

Preview Two Daqan Expansions for Runewars Miniatures Game

When the enemies of the Daqan Lords march on the free cities, it is left to passionate and disciplined soldiers to defend their homelands. Reinforced by the mystical Rune Golems that serve as stone sentries on the field of battle, little can stand against the forces of Daqan.

Today, we’re previewing two expansions for Runewars Miniatures Game, the Rune Golems Unit Expansion and the Spearmen Unit Expansion, both serving as ways to enhance and customize your Daqan Lords armies.

Giants of Stone

In the direst of times, the lords and wizards of the Daqan can use ancient secrets to awaken Rune Golems, the massive, silent stone guardians of the baronies. These massive monstrosities are a rare site on the battlefield, but when they do appear, few can stand in their way. Slicing through cavalry and infantry with ease, the Rune Golems faithfully serve their lords and will stop at nothing to crush all who oppose them.

The Rune Golems Unit Expansion features two Rune Golem Plastic Figures, one identical to the Rune Golem figure found in Runewars Miniatures Game Core Set and one in an exclusive new pose, as well as eight upgrade cards and a variety of tokens to enhance your Runewars Miniature Game experience.

The Rune Golems are an intimidating force in the Daqan Army—using stable energy, they can both stun opposing forces and gain threat equal to the number of stable energy tokens on the field.

While their reliance on runes may make the Rune Golems seem like a risky choice, their modifier dial allows them to count an additional stable energy when they perform a melee attack or special ability, giving them much needed consistency.

The new upgrade card Wind Rune allows the Rune Golems to use natural energy runes to give them greater mobility, using a special modifier to perform a shift and reform action. This allows any upgraded unit to quickly change positions to get the edge in combat.

The Vanguard of Justice

It is difficult to find a group more disciplined than the Spearmen making up the front lines of the Daqan army. These rank-and-file units are made up of soldiers passionate about defending their homeland, and they will move with choreographed ferocity to defeat those that threaten the peace of the Free Cities.

The Spearmen Unit Expansion features eight spearmen plastic figures in two plastic infantry movement trays, perfect for expanding on the Spearmen found in Runewars Miniatures Game Core Set. The expansion also includes a variety of tokens to expand your Runewars Miniatures Game collection.

Like the imposing Lord Hawthorne (to be previewed at a later date), these Spearmen can spend surges to receive inspiration tokens, avoiding harmful bane conditions. With an inspiring presence, these Spearmen are sure to lead the charge against any enemy of Daqan.

The Spearmen command tool affords them a wide swathe of mobility options, their speed two and three marches can be modified by five different blue modifies, including two separate charge actions and an extra defense, ensuring they will always be in the perfect position and well protected.

The Spearmen Unit Expansion Pack also contains five upgrade cards, including Triumphant Cry which allows them to reform after an enemy they are engaged with is destroyed, putting the Spearmen in the perfect position to attack their next foe.

With the Spearmen Unit Expansion and the Rune Golem Unit Expansion, your Daqan forces will be as numerous as they are brave.

Announcing Six New Expansions for the Runewars Miniatures Game

Battles continue to rage across the ancient land of Terrinoth, as the Daqan Lords and Waiqar’s Undead Legion expand their armies, new powerful heroes join both sides. The fires of war rain upon both factions and new reinforcements are vital to victory.

Each expansion offers a unique way to continue to grow your Runewars Miniatures Game army. The Spearmen Unit Expansion and the Reanimates Unit Expansion offer identical sculpts to those found in the Runewars Core Set, but offer new upgrade cards and enough miniatures to field another version of each unit in your army. The Carrion Lancers Unit Expansion and Rune Golems Unit Expansion offer two sculpts each, one identical sculpt to the version found in the Core Set and one new sculpt, as well as additional upgrade cards. Finally, the Lord Hawthorne Hero Expansion and the Ankaur Maro Hero Expansion introduce two brand new heroes to the world of the Runewars Miniature Game, each with their own unique upgrades and sculpts.

Lord Hawthorne Hero Expansion

As a young man, Lord Hawthorne’s home of Seragart was beset by a horde of barbarians led by a mysterious warlord wielding foul sorcery. As a descendent of Sir Rodric the Strong, Hawthorne was not one to sit idly by. Though badly outnumbered, Hawthorne charged out of the gates with the city’s remaining troops, taking the barbarians by surprise, and uncovering the malicious power behind the attacks: the renegade sorcerer Ankaur Maro. Though the defenders of the city were eventually able to break the siege, Maro managed to escape.

Hawthorne was knighted for his bravery in the defense of Seragart, and vowed to never again let a foe escape his blade. Now, rumors swirl that Ankaur Maro has made his return as a servant of Waiqar, and Lord Hawthorne rides forward, determined to defeat his old foe once and for all.

The Lord Hawthorne Hero Expansion includes two different figures for Lord Hawthorne to add to your Daqan army, a mounted and unmounted version, as well as six new upgrade cards, four of which will improve any army and two that are exclusive to Lord Hawthorne. We'll explore the finer details of Lord Hawthorne in a future preview.

Ankaur Maro Hero Expansion

Few names inspire fear in the citizens of Terrinoth like Ankaur Maro. As a young wizard studying at the Universities of Greyhaven, Maro quickly became known for his great skill and even greater ambition. This drive and disregard for boundaries in pursuit of power became his undoing though, and Ankaur Maro was expelled from Greyhaven a disgrace. Not one to be deterred, Maro soon found himself in the inner circle of dark sorcerers, where he learned the secrets of flesh and blood and bone and death. Now, Maro has found a new home in the service of Waiqar the Undying, his powerful dark magic a beacon of strength for the undying legion.

The Ankaur Maro Hero Expansion comes with two Ankaur Maro figures for Waiqar’s forces in the form of cavalry and infantry versions, as well as six upgrade cards, four for use with any army and two exclusively for use with Ankaur Maro. We'll explore Ankaur Maro more in a future preview.

Rune Golems Unit Expansion

Deep within the ancient fortresses of Terrinoth stand ancient stone guardians, ever vigilant. These monoliths of war are only ever awakened when the need is dire, an only a few Lords and Wizards know the secrets that can imbue the golems with life. The strength and ferocity of these golems knows no equal, scything their massive blades through infantry and cavalry with ease. Rune Golems will stop at nothing to destroy the enemies of the Daqan, only to return to their hidden slumber until called upon again.

The Rune Golems Unit expansion features two Rune Golem Plastic Figures, one new sculpt and one identical to the Rune Golem found in the Core set, as well as eight upgrade cards to help you build your army anyway you choose. Look for a future preview detailing the damage these Rune Golems will do to your foes.

Spearmen Unit Expansion

When the fires of war threaten the land of Terrinoth, the rank-and-file of Daqan form a mighty bulwark to protect their homes, and the spearman rise to the challenge of keeping their lands safe. The rows of infantry clad in the Citadel’s own colors—majestic blue and gold—march as a symbol of safety and security to those who make their home in the Land of Steel.

The Spearmen Unit Expansion comes with eight Spearmen plastic figures and two plastic infantry movement trays to expand your Daqan army either through improving an already existing infantry unit or forming another. Five additional upgrade cards for any army will give you the tools you need to push back any force. Look for more information on the Spearmen in an upcoming preview.

Reanimates Unit Expansion

Though each Reanimate is but a fraction of the being they were when they followed Waiqar in life, the legion of skeletal warriors still strike fear into the hearts of those that would stand against them. An unquenchable spite and unbreakable loyalty to the dread Waiqar the Undying drive the legion forward to destroy anything in their path.

Expand your ranks of the undead with the Reanimates Unit Expansion. Featuring eight reanimate plastic figures in four different sculpts, the expansion contains everything you need to add a Reanimates infantry unit to your own army. Look for a future preview on the other components featured in the expansion.

Carrion Lancers Unit Expansion

The massive Carrion Worms that follow the armies of Waiqar the Undying are not easily tamed, but always prove to be valuable assets for the Carrion Worm Masters on the field of battle. Carrion Worms are swift for their size and inspire fear in the heartiest of Waiqar’s enemies, spewing noxious bile and laying waste to their foes.

The Carrion Lancers Unit Expansion features two Carrion Lancer Plastic Figures, one new and one identical to the Core Set, to grow your legions of undead. The expansion also features eight new upgrade cards to improve your armies and crush your enemies underfoot. Look for a future preview for more information on the Carrion Lancers.
