Dust Tactics puts players in the middle of a World War II that never ended. After Axis forces found an alien vessel and harvested its technology for use in devastating combat walkers, Allied forces stole the intelligence they needed to build weapons of their own. Now, as the war hinges upon control of the rare power source VK, players must command their forces through fast and intense battles.
A game of blazing combat and strategy for 2-4 players,
Dust Tactics
features some of the most beautifully detailed miniatures you’ll find anywhere, and our
Dust Tactics Premium
line ratchets the quality up another notch by treating each of the miniatures with a stunning, professional paint job.
As Dust Studio’s Art Director, Vincent Fontaine is responsible for realizing the entire look and feel of Dust Tactics Premium through his color choices, texturing techniques, camouflage schemes, and building of model dioramas. He paints the master reference samples of every miniature and engineers the processes and painting techniques that will result in figures matching the standards set by the original.
As Fantasy Flight Games looks forward to launching the Revised Core Set , we thought collectors would appreciate some insight into the Dust Tactics Premium edition, by the man behind the brushstrokes.
Vincent Fontaine on the Dust Tactics Premium: Revised Core Set
I don’t usually talk about myself, but I practiced painting since early childhood. When I started painting professionally, I learned different techniques and then brought my textures. I’m a ceramic artist, and I really wanted the miniature paintings to be richer and more alive. Each new miniatures box is a new opportunity to try something different–new colors, new techniques.
I have carte blanche in artistic decisions, and it’s been almost a year for our Premium edition. When you take a step back and you watch the whole range on the table… It’s fantastic. And it’s not over!
Looking forward to the Revised Core Set, we eagerly awaited the Schwer Sturmgrenadiere (Heavy Flak Grenadiers). Our Premium edition has all been in a winter color scheme so far. To stay in winter color schemes was very challenging. We don’t get to play with so many colors, so getting to work on a new color scheme for the Ranger Attack Squad was very exciting.
The Hammers and Blackhawk were very challenging to paint due to their camouflage, but for the Dust world we try to stick to historical aspects and just add the bits of science fiction. The armies are in combat action in the dust, so we use camouflage and some weathering techniques.
Over time, we keep improving the smoothness and painting techniques. I look forward to improving the range, and I enjoy seeing the gaming community is involved. Many painters have many great ideas and complete both our Premium and base miniatures with very historical paint touches. As soon as possible, I want to work in tandem with Paolo, especially on the walkers! It’s fun and good practice for him!
Thank you, Vincent, for your look at the upcoming Dust Tactics Premium: Revised Core Set . The miniatures look great!
Meanwhile, for those of you who want to read more about Dust Tactics or discuss the game with other members on our community forum , you can expect regular updates on our website.
We hope you’re as excited by the breathtaking artwork on the Premium miniatures as we are!
Dust Tactics

an alternate 1940s reality in which alien technology fuels gigantic machines of war, and the world's superpowers clash over rare mineral deposits that could ultimately decide the outcome of WWII.
