The Beginning of A New Era
The end of one era, the beginning of another. If it seems like I said something like this recently it is because I did. With the the release of the new base sets in February we had our first block rotation and a new era started for our beloved UFS TCG. It was a big change that people worried about for months. People don't like change, because the unknown makes them uncomfortable. However, as I've said to you several times before, it does not have to be bad. Look at how block rotation turned out — UFS is as good or better than ever!
Now here I am, a mere five weeks after block rotation, talking about the beginning of an even bigger new era. UFS is now being published by a different company. Once again people are worried about what is going to happen with the game, OP, Tournament support, and winning the Greatest Prize in Gaming? These and many more questions have been asked. I've answered several already and hopefully this will help as well.
First, let me reiterate my answers to the above questions:
The game is going to continue as it has been, meaning smashing faces and taking names. The game will continue to push boundaries and bring you all of the excitement you have come to expect from UFS. In fact, the next three sets and the battle pack were already designed by Dave Freeman before this happened, and he is going to continue to work as a freelancer on even more exciting UFS releases (yes, we will be bringing on an in-house developer as well, so no worries there).
OP and tournament support will continue as always including special events like the patch program. There may be a few glitches during the transition, but please be patient - we will work them out just as we always have in the past. As for the Greatest Prize in Gaming, of course we are going to continue that program!
We will be announcing the site for Nationals in the next couple of weeks. Also, yes, ShadoWar is still on track and you will start getting some background information about the characters soon.
Finally, I know people are concerned about Worlds at GenCon. I am trying to get us more space so we can make some adjustments to how it works, but we are working under some tight space limitations as they are doing construction to the show site and there is not as much room as in years past. I will keep you posted. Until now, to help keep the rumor mill under control, keep this in mind: if I didn't say it, don't believe it. Once Jonathan gets here, he and some other great people here at FFG will be joining me in keeping you up to speed on what's going on.
We had a great run at STG, and I am extremely proud of what we accomplished there. I just want to take a moment to wish my fellow Spartans (in house term, don’t ask) the very best. I’m looking forward to Jonathan and Sabe getting up here and getting back up to speed.
Our new company is really impressive and is very excited about UFS, so you can stop worrying about that. If I had any doubts I would not have made the trek to the frozen North where it turns out it gets very, very cold… NO A LOT COLDER THAN THAT!!! :) Friday may be the first day of Spring for most of you, but we got snow (no one said anything about snow). Those of you who know me know that as much as I love UFS I love my family more, so I would only endorse this if I was sure it was going to work for the best.
With our new UFS site now up and running, the old site will be coming down in the next few days so make sure you get signed up here. We are working to make sure we get critical info from the old site and get it posted here ASAP. Scout forums will happen but will take a little time as we will have to find a way to port that info over, so just relax… this is only the beginning.
Thanks to everyone who have sent us there best wishes and as always thanks for your support. Without you guys, UFS would have never happened.
See you in the arena,
Steve
P.S. I can't wait to bring the pain to everyone with my Yi Shan deck at the shows this year!
