Volume 2: Curse of the Heartless

Greetings!

We here at FFG are excited to announce the new promotional tournament Curse of the Heartless. Players will face off against one another with new cards from Kingdom Hearts: A Darkness Awakened with an alternate rules set.

It is true that some worlds are more dangerous than others (as we learned well during the Dangerous Travels event). This event accentuates the danger faced when traveling to certain worlds and the lack of danger when traveling to others.

For participating in this event players will receive a copy of the Tigger promotional card. Winners will receive their choice of a Foil Tigger or a Non-foil Cid.

Extra Special Bonus!

Because A Darkness Awakened introduces so many new cards, combinations, and modes of play, we are very excited to see what you, our players, have made of the game so far. That's why we want to know all about the decks you've built with the new cards. All tournament winners please submit to us your winning deck list: what cards you used, what combinations were especially tricky and cunning, etc. A few lucky winners will have their decks posted on our Kingdom Hearts page and analyzed by our expert team of Moogles!

Curse of the Heartless Alternate Play Rules

During the game there will be two different states that will be in effect at any one particular time, Light and Dark. Each will create a different set of standing effects as you play the game. During the time when the play-field is Light, Player Cards Attack and Magic values are increased by +1, Friend and Magic/Friend cards support values increase by +1 and Dark/Heartless cards Power are reduced by 2 and lose all immunities. When the play-field is Dark, Dark/Heartless cards Power is raised by 2, Dark/Heartless cards Levels are reduced by 1 and if a Player loses a challenge during the Challenge Phase they lose 2 HP instead of 1. At the start of the game, the play-field will be considered Light.

In order for the play-field effects of Light and Dark to change from one to the other Players will need to use World Cards. Certain World Cards will be affiliated with either the Light or Dark effects. Once played during a Movement Phase Action, the World Card will change the play-field (or keep it the same) depending on which effect it is considered to be associated with.

You can download a token (just print it out and stick the two images together, back-to-back) for the playfield to make sure that players know which worlds are associated with the Light and Dark effect and to make sure both players know which state the game field is in.
