Token Cards ... Kinkos Printing Available

I am new here at this forum and just wanted to show off my latest TannhÃ¤user creation. I was [i]not[/i] exactly delighted with the [i][b]Pass the Cheat Sheet[/b][/i] set up for the Tokens. Nor, was I too happy with the BGG expanded versions as every time a new Token came out you needed to print out multiple sheets for all players or play [i][b]Pass the Cheat Sheet[/b][/i]. So I decided I would make up CCG sized cards [i](so they may be placed in card sleeves)[/i] for each of the tokens. I only have about 10 done so far and plan to create a couple a day until I have one for each token.

And then on to the remaining, as of yet 'officially' untranslated [i](absolutely [b]no[/b] disrespect to Steve-O, XcomSquaddie, and any other helpful translators on this board is intended)[/i] 12 Bonus Tokens. Please, note that the [i]sample[/i] images above are [i]150 dpi[/i], the [i]originals/finished PDFs[/i] will be at [i][b]300 dpi[/b][/i] and print crystal clear.

â€¢ Each of the cards has both the [b]Take on You[/b] logo and copyright as well as the [b]Fantasy Flight[/b] logo and copyright. The only thing I take credit for is written at the bottom of each card: [i]"Card Concept and Design by Malechi"[/i].

â€¢ I wish to place them at [url=http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/25261][b]BGG[/b][/url] for free download, but I am utilizing [b]ToY[/b] & [b]FF's[/b] artwork and text. It is because of this that my desire becomes murky as to what the companies will allow. Different companies, different rules. [b]Milton Bradley[/b] allows you to freely utilize their merchandise as long as you do not profit from it. [b]Games Workshop[/b] on the other hand guards even a whisper of their merchandise with a sharpened scythe, ready to take down any and all comers with a legalese [i]Cease and Desist[/i] order.

LOL. My translations are done with 2 free online translation sites and a ton of guesswork. I'll be the first to admit mine are "unofficial". Definitely wait for the official version.

What is it exactly you were actually attempting to do with [b]Twin Strike[/b]? And, no, I am not a professional artist by any means, but I have freelanced for some very small game companies. My love of games combined with a heavy Bipolar related need to create has gotten me rather well attuned to Photoshop!

Okay, so there has been a slight delay with getting started on the main game tokens as I scanned the all of the token images yesterday, but because of the four color printing process the images came out very blurry due to the dot matrices utilized in the process.

After getting all of the images on to new cards, I found much better images in the tannhauser-thegame.com PDFs. Therefore I will be replacing all the images ... The good news is the cards will look that much better!

I am going to throw out my old crappy versions in place of yours.

My only concern is, am I able to read the text? It seems a bit small?

Though I will be printing them black N White (I'm in college and poor and printing B&W is free color costs money)

But I am told that some times B&W text can be a tad bit easier to read than color depending on size, font and colors.

my only real concern is will I be able to read the text on the cards, the text from the example from page one are a tad bit small.

As for printing in B&W I would be worried that the text would be highly illegible on the dark background.

The images on page 1 are only samples, the real cards are at 300 dpi [i](and yes, I did change the images to show the detail better)[/i].

I have no intention of incorporating Weapon Pack specific info other than the utilizing the character/faction's image on the back [i](as littlewars mentioned there are other cards/sheets that accomplish this)[/i]. These cards are for 'during play' reference to what the tokens do for the character so the Token Reference Sheets do not have to be passes around constantly or reprinted every time a new token comes out.

Thanks to the both of you.

I have printed out lots of stuff from wizards products that they offer online in B&W, most of the scenarios with blue and silver back ground, with white and black lettering.

And they came out fine.

I can run a test print and let you know how it comes out.

These are coming along ... [b][i]slowly[/i][/b]. As I am forced to type out each of the cards manually [i](I am a Grand Master at Hunt and Peck typing)[/i].

One new addition to the cards are symbols for each specific Pack [i]([b]Combat[/b], [b]Stamina[/b], [b]Mental[/b], [b]Special[/b] and [b]Winter[/b])[/i] the item belongs to located where the right hand TannhÃ¤user logo was originally set.

Plageman has been extremely helpful in gathering clean Token images from the French ToY TannhÃ¤user members and is typing out the French versions of the card text. So there will be [i](American)[/i] English and French versions of the cards available once this project is completed.

These cards have not been forgotten. They have been going through changes as I print them and see improvements that can be made (in other words, I am going through the Alpha and Beta versions myself).

Changes from the original design shown in first post:

â€¢ Removed [i]"Fluff"[/i] text use larger font for easier reading while playing.

I make all my stuff 4 card stock thick so that is what i would do.

So far it looks like I will be creating the single side print books ...

Actually, I realized there is a [b][i]third option[/i][/b].

Once the cards are completed, I will be printing at my local Kinkos. In doing so I will be uploading to [b]Kinkos Print Online[/b]. The files remain there once completed. If someone wants the same cards I use [b][i]and[/i][/b] their local Kinkos has a 5000 series printer [i](this machine is [b][color=red]required[/color][/b] and not all Kinkos have them)[/i]. I can set up the print job for anyone that wants a set and all you have to do is pick it up and pay for them. Note this can be fairly expensive $2.58 per sheet, 8 cards per sheet. That's 9 sheets for the 72 cards in the TannhÃ¤user main game [i]not including the Crate cards[/i]; or, $23.22 [i](note that this money does [b]not[/b] go to me, only to Kinkos for the printing)[/i] for the main game cards not including tax. These cards are double sided, negligible registration error (less than 1/32") and the double sided cards have expanded card fronts so registration of this magnitude is inconsequential, glossy 100# cardstock and once cut out resemble CCGs [i](and cost about the same )[/i].

Hopefully, the TannhÃ¤user main game Figure Token Cards will be done within two weeks. Followed shortly thereafter by the Crate Token Cards*. Then Wolf and Yula Token Cards. Finally, the Bonus Token Cards [i](those not included with Wolf and Yula)[/i]. After that as the expansions are released [i](in the US)[/i], so will the Token Cards.

* [i]I realized the Crate Token Cards will have a double benefit in that the "marked" crate tokens included with Wolf would no longer be a problem when utilizing the Crate Token Cards. Simply place any Crate Token on the board, when one is searched, draw a Crate Token Card instead of flipping the Crate Token![/i]

You're are more than on time, you're still a little early!

I have pretty much finished all of the 107 existing (English) Token Cards (Main Game, Wolf and Yula Tokens) as well as their French counterparts. Currently, I am going through each card and correcting the Token art so that they all match color and clarity [i](I had been using art from three different sources and some did not match - now I am making sure it all from a single source)[/i]. From there the PDFs will be created and uploaded for distribution. After that comes the officially translated online tokens. And finally, the French-only cards and creating English cards as they become available.

The initial set of Token Cards should be up sometime this weekend per Plagemen.

As for FFG hosting them that would be nice but I can't seem to get a response from them when it comes to homebrew items ... Anything else and they're great at responding super fast*, so I assume any delay in response has to do with their legal department.

* I had two tokens with a production tear (I sent a photo with the tear visible before the tokens were removed from the full sheet) and received the replacement tokens from Thaad in [color=red][i]less than a week[/i][/color] after my initial contact. That girl is fast and efficient!

Universal Head at BoardGameGeek has made an amazing Rules & Reference Pack that contains a rules summary, token summary sheets and card-sized equipment pack summaries for all characters (including Wolf and Yula). I never play a Tannhauser game without these.

All the info for a character's equipment pack on a single card is much better solution in my opinion. It cuts down on card printing, and general clutter during the game. You can download it [url=http://www.headlesshollow.com/freebies_games.html][color=darkred][b]here[/b][/color][/url], just scroll down to the bottom of the page to Tannhauser.

Universal Head has informed me he will be updating this document along with any new releases so he will be adding Gorgei, Ramirez, and Novgorod when they come out.
