As far as I understand there are quite a few (in)famous warhammer weapons in existence (from WFRP as wel as WFB). Does anyone know of a list or website where to find a list with descriptions....?

I'm talking about weapons like:
Ghal Maraz, hammer of sigmar, created by the dwarfs, to fend of Greenskins
Fellblase, sword of the Skaven, created by the council of 13 to kill Nagash
etc.

edit: greenskins io chaos
edit: thanks to the below input I came accross this
edit: and another one

EDIT:
I've compiled a list and put it up at gmail's shared documents.
Everyone can edit it. And I would ask everyone interested to update it to make it more complete and or correct. Discussions can still take place here.

It can be edit here: (if you don't have a gmail account, just make a bogus one)
http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=p7ESBHMD2RZ9O0sdEtTt4IQ&hl=nl

It can be viewed here: (without an gmail account, you can't edit it though)

You bet!

In fact, it's so tasty you'll never want anything else ... and that's when the Mootfia has you hooked!

I actually like the idea of the mootfia, I haven't used halflings in my campaign so far, and while I have a group of players used to 'that other game' I rather like to portrait our hairy feet friends somewhat different...

Is this something you invented or is there some background info on this 'side' of the hairy friends (seriously or comically?

I started a thread on the Mootfia on the very old forum:
http://forum.blackindustries.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=9138&SearchTerms=mootfia

It's a rather long discussion on how to implement the Mootfia in a game, and what exactly it's all about.

The Mootfia is at the core a mix of Ogres and Halflings. The Halflings can cook and the Ogres like to eat- e.g. a match made in heaven. Basically it is a way to make the Halflings seem to anything but little cute hairy children who will never grow up.

Ghal-Maraz was actually an ancient Dwarf weapon belonging to Kurgan Ironbeard that was given to Sigmar in gratitude for saving his life. Given how old the weapon was, the opponents it was originally intended for were long since forgotten- they could have been Chaos, orcs, or even elves. It probably proves equally effective against them all though.

There are the Runefangs, obviously, which were forged by Alaric the Mad for Sigmar's chieftains.

Nagash has the great sword Mortis, which he made himself.

Vlad von Carstein had the Wailing Sword, which screamed in an unnerving fashion as he wielded it. Konrad von Carstein had a daemon sword which was quite renowned at the time.

There's the Sword of Khaine, which Aenarion wielded, and is arguably the greatest mortal weapon ever used... it's now buried on the Blighted Isle and touching it is ill-advised. If Darkblade is to be believed there's a similar weapon- the Warpsword of Khaine- but that's Dan Abnett background so probably nonsense.

There are two Axes of Grimnir, one of which has been lost (although it's rumoured the White Dwarf has it) and the High King has the other. Gotrek's axe was rumoured to be the second of the pair for a while, but according to Daemonslayer it's in fact "just" a powerful Dwarf axe.

The Everchosen (much as I hate the concept) traditionally has the Slayer of Kings.

The Fellblade, of course, which has the nasty side effect of killing its user. The Slayer of Kings does this as well, but only every now and again.

I don't know the pedigree of the Sword of Justice, but it seems to be the weapon of choice for the Emperor's Champion, and certainly for Ludwig Schwarzhelm.

Malekith has Destroyer- was that forged by Hotek along with his armour? I don't think it has any particularly special magical properties... except that it drains magic out of other items it touches.

Among the High Elves there are Sunfang- Tyrion's sword (also indicated to be a name for the Solland Runefang in Runefang, not to give away any spoilers) and the Star Lance, which Imrik uses. There are quite a few other decent weapons knocking about too, but those are the most notable ones.

That's off the top of my head; there will be more, but it depends how "legendary" you're after. Those above will probably be known of by most educated people.

There are some rune weapons of renown mentioned in DSaS

Grimmaz, a rune axe forged during the War of Vengeance for one on the ruling clans of Karak Ungor. It was lost by Stakerd Jarlki during an attempt to re-take Karak Ungor in -975 I.C. and has remainrd in Goblin (or possibly now Chaos Dwarf) hands ever since.

Gnolden, A rune hammer created by Arek Ragasson during thr War of Vengeance. It was lost during the last Incursion of Chaos (pre Storm of Chaos) at Karak Vlag. Gnolden is insribed with an unknown Master Rune and seems to have the power to fire bolts of lightning. It is now believed to be in the possesion of Chaos Dwafs.

The Gibbon is back.

It's quite possible Gotrek's axe (The Axe of valek) is even more powerful than the axes of Grimnir. It's also Gromril, it has unknown runes all over it and has the capability to physically transform it's wielder over time. It glows red near demons and magic users can sense it from a distance. It also seems to really screw up anything daemonic.

Also from the slayer Books, Felix's sword Karahgul, seems pretty powerful. It protected an entire airship full of people from a dragon's terror and then nullified a dragon's breath weapon entirely.

And again from the same books the Hammer of Fate should be in there somewhere. Ancient rune weapon of dwarf king and seemingly based on Mjolnir (lighning powers and can be thrown then returns to your hand etc).

From another thread Drachenfels' gauntlet is as powerful as it is unassuming. S+1, WP+10 (rune based) and double damage. Might not be flashy but that double damage part makes it a serious weapon.

They probably have more famous Weapons than any other race;

The Dolorous Blade of the Green Knight is pretty impressive, as is the Blade of Couronne.

Oh and the Sword of the Ladies Champion gets dished out by a watery tart too.

not to forget the Lady's mirror, the Dark Lady, and his champion: the Red Duke of Aquitaine. I'm sure he wields something mightily powerful in his hand too.

there is also the Staff of Kaphamon, while not a physical weapon, in a Wizard's hand, it can devastate a field of battle more surely than any sword, lance or bow.

Or cannon.

Well I've started drawing up a list of what you all posted and looked per item for some descriptions and suddenly I came accross of this:;

https://www.msu.edu/user/cooking3/weaapons.html#weapons

which partially sums it up. Here I miss the background of the items in question, but thats something to work on.

While nice, that list is very very old, and doesn't represent the current WFB rules for these items acurately. Neither the factions/species they're associated with. It's a useful resource, but do treat it with caution.

I thank you for your time

I just want to use them as background material in wfrp. In the very unlikely event that I'm going to use such a weapon in game I make up the rules.

As for the factions/species they're associated with, how can it be that that's changed? I can't imagine that grimnirs axes are suddenly in orcs hands...

Well, yes. Some things from this list are more or less fine. But allow me to give you some examples from my area of expertise:

The Chaos Runesword is no longer associated with Undead, since current GW policy is that Undeath and Chaos are oposites.
There is no longer such thing as a Chaos Tomb Blade. A weapon allowing the wielder to gain more magical power through slaying foes is called the Sword of Unholy Power and is associated with Undead only.
The Blood Drinker is now a Vampire's weapon of choice, not a Druchii's. It restores lost wounds.
The Tomb Blade of Arkhan the Black (sometimes called just the Tomb Blade) has drastically different effects to those listed (slain foes automatically raise as skeleton warriors), and is in no way associated with Skaven (except that Arkhan once routed a huge army of the ratmen, possibly raising some through the power of the sword in the process).

And so on, and so forth.

I thank you for your time

I thought that we had established that this is oversimplification of the case. Necromancers and the Undead share a common powersource the Hordes of Chaos as they both utilise Dhar, however they typically utilise it for different ends. Or to quote Dave Allen, "The order/stasis thing is as much a matter of mind, or even culture, as it is of body. Those who seek out vampirism and necromancy are usually after the hard won "live forever - regain youth" prize (and the power that that brings), rather than the easier but ephemeral faustian pacts of the worshippers of chaos."

Not really, they have some fancy swords and such, but nothing that is really associated with Giles. There are two lances connected to him, the Silver Lance of the Blessed which he made and the Heartwood Lance made from a tree that was destroyed by lightning at the moment he was struck down. If you go for the idea that Giles is the Green Knight you could say that the Dolorous Blade is connected to him. Its iteresting to ote that a lot of the Bretonnian magic items in WFB are tied to the model retaining the Lady's Blessing a neat restriction that could probably work to translate well in to WHRP, if the wielder handles or acts against the Lady's strictures in KoG the item fails, likely at an inopportune moment of the GMs choosing.

There's also (at least according to the 7th ed wfrp army book) the sword of Couronne, which is pretty powerful, and the Green Knight wields a weapon called The Dolorous Blade.

There's also a sword of the quest for QK's but I tend to think that that sortof defeats the purpose, as is not the questing knight supposed to be surviving on his own merits, rather then because of his trinkets?

Now a Grail Knight I could easily see toting around some manner of enchanted blade.

"The only honourable purpose of war is to destroy your enemy's ability to make war. To do less is to risk delivering yourself into his hands. To do more is to entertain depravity."
