Wow guys you should keep your cool here

Ninjas are part of a fan-made scenario as is the gorgon Medusa and Aliens (as in the Aliens/Predator movies).

However Union technology is based on recovered items found at the site of the Roswell crash (see the Instruction Manual) and the Minotaur is the first only "fantasy" character to be featured in the game setting. Now you can bet that if Daedalus is not successful, that kind of expansion won't be explored again in the future.

BTW I really invite you to check the concept arts posted in the "Coming soon" section of the French website.

Oh i did forget to say that the ninjas are in a fan made scenario.

And i understand that it is FAN made but i think alot of the story we will be playing will come from the fan made scenarios so i hope people will make more scenarios centered around the story that we know so far.

BUT don't get me wrong the Ninjas thing might be kool, i don't know i haven't played it yet.

Rise of Lividian.

Thanks for the link. It’s ironic that that same page you linked is what urged to write on this thread in the first place!

Everything looks so gritty, nice, coherent. Then suddenly:

BAM!

You see it. It hits you like 1000 ton freight train. Then you think:

WHY IN THE WORLD IS THERE A PICTURE MINOTAUR!

It’s the feeling you would get when the string of a violin breaks in the middle of a beautiful symphony. I despise it. I pray that TOY re-considers this new character.

If it really bother you, petition FFG to release the expansion as two parts: A single pack for Asterios and a "Map pack" for the Daedalus map so you can buy what you like.

Now on the topic of "Fantasy". Take on You did not announce an "Orc & Elves" expansions pack, all they did is to propose a creature that would fit the theme of the labyrinth map and what monster is more iconic than the minotaur ?
Also you should keep in mid that the minotaur is creature of myth and legend as are the hydra, marid and rakshasa. They are not specific to D&D or to fantasy, they are part of OUR world folklore so they do "fit" the pulp setting of the game.

Of course i don't expect them to be an important part of the game, but reference in background text, token or scenarios can be justified without breaking the game setting. After all if I want the Reich going after the Holy Grail and having to battle an order of "modern" Templar protecting it will it be too much fantasy-like ? After all we can play a remix of Wolfenstein, can't we ? If the Union is facing infiltration from the aliens who seek to know what happened to their folk who crashed in 1947 is it too far fetched ? I don't think so as it's written in the fiction from the game.

Sorry to resurrect a long dead thread....but is that Daedalus still a 'coming soon' item?

I too would much rather see occult type/eldritch horror/weird war expansions than one that delves into Fantasy...but I wouldn't mind a new board to play on.

I perused the French site, and didn't see a word about it (mostly because all the words don't make sense to me)

I wouldn't list it as Coming Soon so much as Coming Later, Much Later. For those, like me, born without the Decipher-Heterogeneous-Gaul-Gene try the Coming Soon Images Page for previews ...

Yeah, I seem to lack that gene as well!

Thanks for the link.

I realize 'coming soon' is a relative term, but I guess I was curious to know that since the Daedalus stuff doesn't appear to be in the preview page, has it been scrapped?

EDIT...scratch that. I see the minotaur in all his....horniness on that page. Uff. That looks like a disney character gone bad.

Rackham used to have a bunch of Minotaurs in that same vein...must be a cultural thing!

what is the story with the Minotaur?

who does he fight for?

I know the mythology behind him, but where did he come from in this game?

As supervike mentioned, he looks very Disneyesque. So my guess is somebody at ToY has a real fetish for Beauty and the Beast. Since Disney is known as the evil empire amongst its business partners, I am going to have to go with the Reich!

Daedalus was originally expected to be released this summer but was postponed to this fall (at least from what I know) for "balancing" reasons. Since the map has been shown and the Minotaur abilities are known, I guess the balancing thing is linked to the scenarios to be released in the manual.

In the meantime they "should" release the Fields ops non-collectible card game. And for those more interested in 3d goodies there still are rumors of a character for the union (Hoax), a character for the Reich (Reichdoktor Horbringer - the 3rd Legendary character to be released) and a troop pack with one more troop of each type (Commando Alpha, Commando Delta, Schocktruppen, Stosstruppen, Voivod A, B, C and D - that's 8 figs !) and new tokens for them too. No date announced though.
