I quite like the internicine concept too, with various humand factions allying with other major players (Eldar, Tau, etc..)

At least it would get away for the overt racism prevalent in 40k...

Its close to the 'Ultramar rising' thing i've talked about a few times...

I plan on advancing the story of the Calixis Sector to its slow fall, I'm not ambitious enough to look at the Imperium yet. I had my players thrown far from the Sector, and upon their return I'm going to have the Slaugth (which their first enemies were) have infiltrated many more of the planets and have a strong grip on part of the sector.
