I mean all the sword does is add an additional +1 to combat while the axe adds +1 to combat AND gives the player the ability to build a raft. Both items cost the same amount of gold so I dont see the point to EVER buying a sword from the blacksmith.

using a sword and buying a sword are not the same act.

Actually the blacksmith's price for the Axe is a misprint, since the axe is two fold, building a raft and +1 in combat, the axe is more expensive (well its suppose to be atleast! ) I'm willing to bet Hallowknights Talisman Dice that the Axe is suppose to be 3g vice 2g.

The only reason to buy a sword from the blacksmith, if you can't afford an Axe

Also with a sword you may add your Dexterity instead of Strength to a Combat.

With the Axe you can only add your Strength.

The Market and Market Day each sell swords for 1 gold, and don't sell axes at all. If either of those cards is drawn, and you are either cash-strapped or not conveniently near the Blacksmith, and you need a weapon, then there's your reason to buy a sword. I've done that before.

I was wondering if anyone would catch that.
I was picking on RETT with that comment.

Anyway another difference between the weapons are...

When you use alchemy on the Axe you only get 1 gold
When you alchemy on the sword, you get its FULL market value!

That is a reason to have the sword instead of the axe.

Well Rett didnt get a chance to read the posts today (yet)

Because, whatever you alchemy, you ONLY get 1G, nothing about Market Value (that I know of atleast)

If anyone sees something in the rules, that states otherwise, please reference it, because I have been known to be wrong.

HA!!! HA!! Got you Again Rett!

When you use alchemy on the Axe you get 1 gold.

Now answer this question...
What is the Full Market Value of a sword? (look on the market card)

IF you dont get it, how about this.

When you use alchemy on a sword you get half its blacksmith shop value. (whats half the price at the blacksmith for a sword?)

I love picking on people from Delaware.

HURL!?!?!?!

I think*NOT*

"To Chunk" origin: American Indian loosely translated
'To Chunk' - 'Propel large, heavy orange gourds, further and faster than a Brave can run, while being chased by an angry Squaw.'

Silly North Dakota Boy... his brain has yet to have the 'Spring Thaw'.

At least let me explain my frozen brain.

Thursday. Nice day, 68 degrees, we grilled stakes, and kids played in the sprinkler.
Friday. Thunderstorms, lightning galore.
Saturday. Clouds and high winds, and hail
Sunday. A freeking Bllizzard dumping a foot of snow, all over my law mower.
Monday. Kids outside wearing shorts, t-shirts, and making snowmen.

All in 5 days..

See why I am loopy?

Where else, but North Dakota can you use your Snowblower in the morning, and your lawn mower in the evening.

No joke, this is all true.

Still off topic since this conversation is about weather...

I'm originally from VA and I remember one year we had REALLY freaky weather.

between Midnight and 8 AM if dumped 6 inches of snow on us... at noon, snow still on the ground but it was freaking 90 degrees outside... Imagine this convo.

son: I'm going out to play
mom: don't forget your coat
son: ok mom.

5 minutes later son walks back inside sweating

son: F*** that S***

This was the actual conversation between me and my mom... this was also the first time I cursed in front of my mom.

Ok another weather break story.

It must of been about January 1990, I was in Charlotte NC looking for an apartment, so I could move down there. I fell in love with the city! The Co-eds all laying out catching rays, when back home in Pennsylvania, they were all bundeled up due to snow. I said 'This is the Place for me!' I signed my lease for a year, kicked back and smiled. I go into my new apartment (no furnature yet) spread a blanket out on the floor curled up with my pillow, with the windows open.

a few hours later. I'm SHIVERING... not only did the temperature drop abou 50 degrees in a few minutes (ok ok I exaggerate, HOURS) but we had 4 inches of SNOW ! ! !. Well I'm from up North, driving in snow to me is like driving around the block for others. However... people in NC DONT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE IN SNOW ! ! ! they don't even had Plow Trucks! all they could do was throw cinders in the highways (forget the backroads, they let them melt!)

and last weather story..................... 'Christmas' everyone 'Dreaming of a White Christmas'

Not me, I was station in GUAM in the navy... SKINNY DIPPING outside of Barneys Beach Bar, christmas eve! THE BEST CHRISTMAS EVE EVER !
