Im a little new to the Talisman experiance but I kind of wanted to know that if Fantasy Flight follows the older Games Workshop editions of Talisman then what exactly will the expansions bring to the game?

The easy answer?

More places to waste time and have fun.

Anything you say is beneath me now...

Are there additional victory conditions? Im not a big fan of the "Get to Crown and Kill everyone Else" path to victory.

who knoes? this is a recent aquirement for FFG. It could take up to a year to develope a expansion. If anyone does know the answer to your quwstion, they probably are not allowed to deulge any information.

Ohhh I understand that, I was just asking what kind of additions were added to the old versions of Talisman. Like what new options were available to the player, im trying to figure out any homebrew variants that I might be able to add to my game nothing too fancy just a few new player options or victory conditions.

Well some of the 'past' expansions (Edition 2) had 'Alternate Endings' so that should take care of your requirement for a different end game. (lets here it for the Horrible Black Void! YEA ! !)

other expansions included lots of new characters, places, spells, items, events, strangers, followers...etc shall I go on? *grin*

There were additional gaming boards, Dungeon, city and Timescape.

Now what will FFG do with the 'Edition 2 Expansions' how will they (if) incorporate them into Edition 4? That is yet to be seen. I've heard rumblings of 'I hope 'The Adventure' is released again, to 'I hope that Timescape is scraped'

We'll just have to wait and see... I predict 3rd/4th Quarter this year, Talisman Edition 4 will be a year old and that all important Christmas Shopping Season time

I'd say the first priority, would be a Re-print of the existing board, as stock is getting low (Sold out even in the UK) re-print WITH Corrections please !

Cheers

According to this it should be either late Q2 or early Q3 for the reprint.

Although as far as expansions are concerned I like what I am hearing about what COULD be in store. So knowing Fantasy Flight, it seems to me that it would be safe to expect something around what we get as expansions for Arkham Horror. I also would not put it past them to release an expansion along with the reprint but that is nothing more than speculation.

What about multi-boards ending? After you crossed the valley of fire you pick at random, for example The Dragon Mountain ending card, then you place the corresponding board(about the size of the 2nd edition Dungeon board)on the table and venture through it dungeon-crawling like 'till the end to kill the big boss. The crown of command and the black void still being part the ending card deck of course.

An interesting idea there, but I think that by the time someone gets to the centre of the board you would probably be ready for the game to be over.

Imagine after battling for 3 hours or so only to be told that you have to battle on for another hour!

*cough* based on *cough*

Nah we are all standing along the sides of the room, like 8th grade girls at our first dance. (Wallflowers)

I really dont think we'll see anything 'official' here, it will probably be on one of FFG's main sites, in FLASHING NEON COLORS

Have a great day! off to a *yawn* retirement party *yawn* (where's the free booze?)

make the expansion a greatest hits of cards that apeared in previous incarnations of talisman but please fix any broken cards from the past before releasing them.wait to make a new board expansion until the base game gets beefed up first.

ffg has a HUGE sortiment of games and a HUGE program of expansions and new games they want to do.
talisman is just one of it. of course it would be easy to redo the old expansions, fast to do and quick money. soi guess we get the old expansions first, new developed stuff not before end of 2009.
