Plastic Stands - Who needs 'em?

From my understanding, Arkham Horror has gone through at least 2 different stands.

The first one was a simple clip that slid onto the bottom of the investigators markers. Speaking with Thaad at FFG, there may actually have been two version - one a harder plastic in the 1st edition that was hard to open and easy to snap apart; and a second more pliable version in 2nd edition. [I think I have this 2nd version because I have never had any problems and like them alot).

A new version was introduced in Dunwich (at least in my printing) that is a hard, completely clear plastic with FFG's logo stamped on it. It has three little prongs that bite into the cardboard leaving permananent indentations. This will probably be the stand in Kingsport (and Innsmouth as well).

One, I do not like these new stands and two, I would like to buy more to use for monsters and gate to make them more visible on the board. I have found a manufacturer that makes them in clear plastic and the same size as the orignals. I ordered some samples and verfied that it is the pliable plastic and very easy to insert on the pieces. It works for the Monsters and Gates and is clear enough to see the Toughness and Gate symbols, respectively.

The problem is, they are in the UK and only ship large quantities ONLY. I would have to get like 2000 of these just to place an order. If I were to get thes, would anyone be interested in purchasing some off of me and defraying the costs? I am guessing that each stand would be between $0.10 and $0.15 - though I would only look to cover my costs. Shipping would be to where ever and you cover those costs as well. I am guessing most people would want in the ballpark of 40-60 (16 investigators for AH, 8 for DH, 8 for KH, 8 for IH plus 8 for open gate maximum and 11 for monster maximum). Obviously, you could buy as many or as few as you needed.

Would anyone be interested? If so, PM me with a quantity you think you might like. This isn't an order - just a survey to see if it worth my time and money to pursue something like this. Thanks.

I have seen the first printing stands. They were AWESOME. Tough as hell to get onto the pieces but once they are on they are NEVER coming off. the ones that came with dunwhich and the second printing leave those little indents and sometimes slide off the investigator pieces.

So are you ordering the stands from the first printing or the second?

They look like these. They are not the exact same profile but the are the same overall dimensions. They are pliable enough that they won't snap (as I heard some had done) but still grasp the piece firmly.

For about 10-15 cents a piece i might order some from you if you did this. I liked the old ones allot more then the new ones.

I have got commitments for about 580 so far. I'd say if I can get to about 1200, that would be just about enough for me to bite the bullet and place the order.

Well at .10 a pop. Im guessing id order close to 30-40ish.

Is that as clear as they can make them? I have seen ones that are clearer than that....

Yes, this is their "clear white". For this company, that is as clear as they can make it. Fortunately, the toughness and gate symbols are very easy to see.

Yeah, that is my only worry, is seeing stuff like the toughness symbol.... at 10 cents each I am sure I could use at least 150...

I'll get an update once I get home on total commitments. I have quite a few on both this site and Boardgamegeek.com. I also firmed up exact costs from the UK and think that I can manage the 10 cents a stand cost. I might be out some money in the beginning until I get enough people wanting them. But this has been a tremendous response in less than 16 hours or so.

I copied my original post above from BGG and failed to realize that it is not abundantly clear I am from thhe US. I have no problem sending stands to other countries (as I have been contacted by Australians, Canadians and now a German). However, I wanted to make it clear that I am in the US and the reason for the high cost/high quantity commitment is that the manufacturer is in the UK.

There is a guy in Sweden that may do this as well, so perhaps it is best to contact him with European orders. We'll see how it goes and if he would be willing to do that.

Final cost will be $0.10 each, not including shipping. You will be getting a 19mm x 17mm "clear white" plastic stand that can be used for Arkham Horror and other similar FFG games.

Shipping
I prefer to use US Priority Mail for US residents. I think up to 300 stands will weigh under 1 pound so shipping costs would be a flat $4.60.
If you prefer to use another method, that's fine; as it would probably make more sense to ship 20~50 of these in a padded envelope through first class mail anyway. However, I will have to charge a $1.00 handling fee (in addition to the shipping cost) to cover the cost of a padded envelope if Priority Mail is not used. For larger quantities, Priority may be the only option.
For international shipping, I prefer to use the US Post Office as well but will consut with you on the price vs. delivery time issue. If you prefer a differnt carrier, let me know.
If you need to calculate postage, my ZIP is 46322 in the US.

Payment
I prefer PayPal. I will also accept Money Order and check but will need to wait until they clear before shipping. Any returns, I need ot be contact first and will only accept them within 2 weeks of delivery. Postage will not be refunded.

Other
I do not have these in hand as they are coming from the UK. If you prefer to pay after I have in hand, that is OK with me. I will not ship anything until I have been paid in full. I will reserve an amount for those who have posted (as summarized on the BGG link above). After that, it will be first come, first serve. Once they are gone, they are gone!

Wow, that was fast.

I have a box full of plastic stands in my possession!

I will start counting and bagging them up. Caught me off guard that it would be here this fast so it may still be the weekend before I get them out. I'll fill the orders that have been paid and then send friendly reminders to the rest.

That was quick! Business stuff is always faster than retail, but still, from overseas that's really quick.

Especially since they said it would be about a week after they charged my card which would be about 3 days after they got my order. But I ended up seeing the charge the same day the shipment arrived!

I am about half way through the counting and bagging of orders. I didn't realize how long it would take to count to 4,000 by 25's!

A quick update: Most US orders went out on Saturday. Sounds like Priority mail received them as early as yesterday with a few more today. First class should be there shortly.

International orders got delays because of lack of the right material - boxes and forms and crap. Stupid USPS and PayPal! Those should go out today.

After that, I only have a few more orders that haven't been paid for. Once those are paid, I'll be done and can get back to playing again!
