it says for xbox and ps3, if they can be bothered for ps3 with its weirdo hardware, a pc port doesn't seem unlikley.

Well, for such games it can be expected, I guess. Just like with GTA. First off, they all go "no, this will be exclusive to this and this system", and 1 year later (at max) you've got it ported over. Seems to be part of their contract with Microsoft etc or something like that...

Advertising. Of course I'm sure it was their plan to do these games for the PC all along, but stating "this will only be available for X" could be seen as a way to promote sales for said system by brain-dead market research drones who usually only know how people think based on ominous studies and research papers who tend to be based on minorities that are somehow perceived as the majority of a project's target audience.
Wow, that was a long rant.

Hehe, and here I was looking at the job advertisement and thinking: I've got some games designer friends in Brissy, maybe I should give them the heads up?
I think we can all agree that, console or PC, 40k has the potential to translate over and be a brilliant game, as long as they put the effort in. In fact, I didn't even mind fire warrior too much [waits to dodge impending rotten vegetable projectiles]
Now if only they could make the transition to film...

They Should just remake Chaos Gate. The best 40K Game made to date.
I agree.
Some of us dont have the money for a PC+consoles thought, so the fact that it's console exlusive is a bit of a bummer.
And fable 2.. I would not expect much from that game if i were you. You do know of Peter Molnuxe's (or however you spell it) track record, dont you? He tells us about how wonderfull and revolutionary his games are going to be, and tells us that we will get "X, Y, Z and A, B, C...." of which about 1/4 (sadly a very accurate number) will make it into the full game. Remember what he told us that fable 1 would contain? Or Black & white? Or dungeon keeper?...

And still I keep going back. Over and over, sad really.
As for the PC&Console. I've been lucky the last two generations. Last one I had a high paying job, then the contract ended and back unemployed. (Then the breakdown and depression, but that's another story.) This gen a nice helping of a will came along, and most of it went on the house, and a little on a 360, simply because I find the PS3 as appealing as pigs vomit right now.

Picked up some video footage from the Leipzig Games Convention on the internets and thought some of you might not have seen it yet. It's apparently a tech-demo of the upcoming game and shows some neat action of the player character (as we kinda guessed, a Marine) demonstrating a series of brutal and movie-like attacks on some Traitor Guardsmen (Blood Pact?) and Chaos Marines...

I won't be fully satisfied until I get a Space Marine, Call of Duty 4 quality, high-octane FPS with a dash of Republic Commando (squad commands) in it game.
And/or a professional Battlefield series style 40K shooter (I know there is a fan project).
Either one or both of those would make me giggle like a schoolgirl (which for the record, I DO take as payment for trips to and from Tatooine).

This.
From what I've seen of the game so far, there are several...unpalatable things about the game that could easily be fixed by a couple of lines of code, which isn't easily possible on consoles (the stupidly weak Bolter for example - think of all the arguments we've had here about Bolter stats, I doubt any of us seriously think a point-blank burst of Bolt Fire should be used to stun Guardsmen)
Also, precisely how much game-time is going to be spent in cinematic kill-o-vision? Path of Neo had something similar, but at least you could control that (not to mention it having a 360-degree player-controlled camera)
No, aside from games with excessively high graphics, I don't think there's any decent excuse for any games to not be on the PC. Mods can keep a game alive and popular for decades after it's released (Look at the original Unreal Tournament, or the C&C series). That's got to be worth not being able to stick "XboxPS36Wii exclusive" on the box.

Unfortunately most PC games come out, and far outstrip my ability to upgrade my hardware. A console I only need to upgrade once in a little under a decade, and then it has taken luck and sharing the cost. Ideally people would only need one very affordable, cheap to upgrade system for all gaming requirements, but that's life.
I don't think that, whatever anyone thinks on the bolter issue, that a burst fire round from a civilian, AS or AA bolter will merely stun a guardsman, unless he's nicked power armour from somewhere. Definitely a work in progress.
Should be next year if the beta code is being shown around though. Just hope it doesn't fall apart like Kult of Speed on the Amiga, or an FPS where you played one of the Adeptus Assassinorum, I only saw a couple of screens, then puff, gone. Many years ago now obviously.

That video is enticing, though I agree with Charax about the bolt pistol. They can throw in carapace armoured traitor guard later on if they want swarm enemies you can't take apart easily with bolt rounds, but bolt round vs regular (heretical) guardsman = chunky red bits. A slower rate of fire but higher damage might also be good, too. The only 40k games I know of that seemed to get bolters right were 1) Chaos Gate and 2) Fire Warrior. And even then the latter was a little off on it.

Seconded (or thirded...)...a lot of the appeal of the 40K-Universe and the Space Marines in particular come from the gritty athmosphere and the in-your-face, carnage-heavy directness of combat. Regarding the melee bit, they figured that out nicely, the implementation was flawless (although they should incorporate more finishing moves). However, few things scream "Warhammer 40K" as loudly as a heavy gun that emits a thunderous roar as it shoots out mass-reactive explosive projectile after projectile in order to blow a puny human (or Eldar or Tau or what-have-you) to bits.
Needs more work. Definitely.

That's because it has a Tau firing a bolter repeatedly without breaking his arms.

Well, there was that. I was thinking the bolter seemed too much like a standard FPS rocket launcher, though. Too low a rate of fire for once.

An FPS where you played one of a few different races (Eldar, Tau, Human) unearthing (and then dealing with the consequences of) a Necron tomb complex could be awesome. Necrons just seem like great baddies for an FPS (not a ton of vehicles, good boss options, a final fight with one of the C'tan, etc.).

Might be fun. Although it sounds more 3rd/1st person adventure/ shooter idea.
Space Marine looks like it might be fun, with some work. I can accept the portrayed badassery of a Chaos Marine, but I refuse to accept that a Guardsman, Loyalist or Traitor, can take several rounds of a bolt pistol or a chainsword to the chest and keep on ticking. Just not on. I know the emphasis is on H2H but that's just silly. Do like the idea of using a Chaos Marine as a grenade carrier and (in)human shield though.
