Can someone elaborate on exactly what this game will look like? I'm drawing a blank.

If check the section in the core refrencing Rogue Traders in the 40K universe. It will likely use the same rules and macanics of DH but with a differing direction in regards to the tone of the game and the 'Classes' avalible. Rogue Traders may actualy and often do deal with Xenos, think Privateers and Chartered Merchants, and Pseudo Diplomats.

In what vessels did they pour forth their polluted essences, in what form did they hope to subjugate the universe, with whose hands do they, even now, reach across the frontiers of space in vain aspirations of conquest? It is both obviously and painfully clear that it is WE who they venerate; they wish nothing more than to be like us, to be like Him whose children they envy…

I'm up for playtesting Rogue Trader too, and I have an RP group of 30 people to pick players from!

(I love university RP societies! )

That is a beautiful question. I seconds it.

Having already been a playtester for Dark Heresy, I eagerly offer my services to playtest future Warhammer 40k Roleplay products...

You'd probably get a quicker shorter list if you asked for the people who WOULDN'T want to playtest.

(Yes, I am yet another volunteer.)

Pfft, like there'd be anyone willing not to playtest

From the initial responses, I would have to agree on that one Doc. However, as many ave stated, I would be more then willing to playtest future supplements as well.

And there was much rejoicing!!!!

When you wish upon a star, your dreams come true. Unless it's really a meteorite hurtling to the Earth which will destroy all life as we know it. Then you're pretty much hosed no matter what you wish for. Unless it's death by meteor.

Keele University. It's awesome, I've really liked it there.

QUESTIONS!!!

Will RT characters be 'rank-for-rank' compatible with DH characters?

If so, will there be ranks above 15?

Will there be significant changes to the core systems? Different/new skills? Different/new talents?

Rules for capital-ship combat, or at least a system to narratively describe two gothic skyscrapers duking it out in space?

Ditto for ship-to-planet combat?

And... um... well, that's it for now. I trust that the setting info, races, and other fluff will turn out fine. I really want to know how RT will interact with DH.

I'm pretty sure there will be an announcement regarding possible playtesting, if FFG would indeed opt to recruit players they have had no business with yet. It's not necessary to have every single user of the forum post his/her interest here.

I'd assume it'll the idea of you playing working in a rogue trader fleet and as they are usually contracted by the Imperium to explore the reaches of space beyond the light of the astronomicon your more or less privateers that are exempt from many imperial laws.

I'd assume they'll either use the Calixis sector and expand on the Halo Stars or set you up on the eastern side of the Universe where you can meet Tau and tangle with Tyranids.

I remember having the Inquistion meeting a Rogue Trader who had been all over, I like how they act and usually how they carry themselves it be intresting playing the game.

I refuse to play-test this fine game.

100% refuse.

Never.

Ever.

Unless I was asked, of course.

More likely to the enormous Chartist ship described in it's own couple pages in the hardback rulebook (pg 30

Ellros got it right. I've been working on a 3-D CGi model of the Misericord from the DH main book I want to do up with complete deckplans and adventure/campaign to go with it.
Funny part about it all is when I came up with the idea it was from seeing the "Path of the Misericord" inside the cover of the DH book and assuming it was a drifting Spacehulk of some note so I came up with a really cool idea for my campaign....then I stumbled across the entry for it in the book and discovered my initial idea wouldn't technically work so it got tweaked about and became much cooler.

Ah gotcha!

Stuff remembered from yesterday (when I finished the Omnibus) is better remembered than stuff I read last month lol

I am curious to see how the deckplans work out tho...

I'd just like to ask a little question of the forum crowd...specifically those clamouring to playtest.

Do you guys actually know/understand what it means to playtest a product?

Well, I haven't clamoured to playtest, but I did playtest 2 products fopr Kenzer Co's Hackmaster line. So I know what is involved...

Was a playtester for Mutant Future from Goblinoid Games.

Had playtesters for Berlin '61 the BRP game book I wrote and Chaosium published.

So yeah, I know a little about play testing.

It is wonderful to see so many people interested in contributing to the success of Rogue Trader! However, we are not recruiting playtesters for RT at this time.

Keep watching the FFG website, as I do plan on putting up a designer diary about playtesting next week or so.

Playtested WFRP 2nd Edition, Dark Heresy, Purge the Unclean, The Inquisitor's Handbook and Disciples of the Dark Gods.

I'd say I've got a reasonable idea of what's expected.
