Still a few touch ups and maybe a few more things to glue down " like a suitable Crown of Command I can't seem to find " then more protectant coatings but this is 99% done. I'm sure to add more close ups as the weeks go on and will photo the first game played on it so if you want please come back to the link from time to time and see what's new.

This is an absolutely fantastic job, my friend. Very well done. I am curious though, since you evidently intend to use this for actual play and not simply display purposes, what do you intend to do about cards that are normally placed in various spaces around the board?

Thanks much, I hope you all enjoy this and I hope to play on it soon. Well, I left room on MOST spaces for at least one Adventure Card to lay flat somewhere. They can be put here or there on the board. I do have plans in the future though to make some 3d representation of some cards that hang around for some time like the Witch, Mage, Swamp, Stream, Fountain... I saw some nice one's on Talismanisland in one of the galleries but will try to make my own out of stuff I have around and can paint that I have. Also I'm really torn as to what I am going to do about labeling this board. I got two plans. One Create scans " blown up slightly, laminated and put on card stock " of the labels from the 4e map or make a booklet with pictures of the encounter area and what you can do there. The former way I can add things such as in third edition you can pay a gold at the city before rolling the dice for movement and be taken by a boat to any space in the other region. I might just make that 2 gold though as that is awesome. But you get the idea, if it were labeled on the board I'd have to alter the actual board to add that. I can print up like 3 or 5 books so each player can have one. Whatcha think?
I suppose you could lable the boards by making signpost markers or notice boards. That way you could swap them over if you are playing different versions. Isn't the 3rd edition board actually laid out different though?

Thats absolutley stunning mate! Congratulations on work well done.
Are you actually going to be playing on this board, or was it only a display project? If you are playing how are you going to combat board scraping etc. Also, each of the square encoutnters, are you going to have a board there to the side for reference?

First of all. I'll like to add my name to the Well Done's. That looks like ALOT of time and work. Good Stuff!
Secondly, I agree with Vogless. After you've played the game a couple of times, you normally know what's going on where. A cheat sheet would be a better idea.

Simply amazing! Where exactly do you live that you have an extra 38 hours in every day to get this finished (or, did you start this when version 1 came out)? It must be difficult to get the board back in the box!

Once again thanks on the comments it is great everyone likes it as I am hoping to show up at the few local gaming conventions we have here in Houston area. Hey vogless I have to do something to remind me cause I'm old. LOL... " how much is the axe at the Village Blacksmith? Oh yeah 2 gp. "
Oh yes Subelement I hope to be playing on this and board scraping is a problem but not overly so. I used a very thick layer of a strong wood glue called Tight bond 2 and a Woodland Scenics blend flocking. It is very thick so some of it occasionally falling or scraped off is ok. Now for knocks on the side I made it stronger by giving all the sides of the foam a coating of the same glue. In addition to that all the outer sides will have about 4 coats of clear coat when I am done so they won't be bullet proof but will survive the occasional scrape of a player bending to move a piece.
Hallowknight " you keep on working on your you hear?!! " we started these out together and hopefully will get them both done. I had a few train sets but mostly have been into miniature games such as Axis & Allies Miniatures. The maps were so small many players made there own. Here are a few maps I made for that game if interested.
http://s20.photobucket.com/albums/b228/rcameron2/Axis%20and%20Allies%20Miniatures%20Game/River%20Terrain%20Boards%20Axis%20and%20Allies/?albumview=slideshow
You know I did not show a picture of my first attempt. It was a horrid failure as I mounted some foam to a 5/8" piece of plywood " hoping it would add stability " but it twisted under it's own weight when ever I wanted to pick the board up. I COULD NOT HAVE THAT as there were over 200 painted props that would be bending and twisting there way loose. So I scraped that board and use two layers glued together with the fore mentioned glue then cut the next two for the middle region then two more layers for the Inner and threw the others up there for a kind of natural stepped effect toward the Crown " that I still don't have if you would note ". There are a few metal push pins " about 40 here and there and later pushed down and hidden with foam putty. I put weights on it every where and allowed it to dry for about a week before touching it again. From there it was carving it up with a dremel and painting ALLLL those little bits.... Hope that helps. It does not bend near as much now that it is lighter with out the Plywood. Still very hard to maneuver by ones self.
Malechi ,,, LOL I love working with foam and glue and flock... The board gets leaned up against a wall with a sheet over it. Maybe I'll put a few pictures on the back so it won't look too terrible. My wife already has a spot cleared away for her and paid for up in heaven I imagine....

akuma508 ,,, I am leaning more and more toward a cheat sheet of sorts. I also want this to be a way to " lure?? " more folks into the Talisman Web... So Maybe I can add pictures or maybe number the spaces so they can look it up in a very small booklet...Village 1, Forrest 2, Ruins 3...

Crow... that is absolutely stunning! It's certainly come a long way, very quickly since you showed the WIP pictures over on the BI forums. I think I've just found a reason to get another copy of the Talisman Herald together, but you are going to need to get your authoring head on!
So when can I expect to receive my copy of it in the post?
Thos were amazing too! Somehow I just kept marvelling at how, amidst all of the scenery that you crafted, you STILL managed to then etch in these perfect hexagons for gameplay!

Only if you'll proof read and maybe make some changes if you feel them necessary. So just a synopsis of how it was made and then a first game on it?

Those little hexes were a real chore. First the boards needed to be the same size " twice what the A&AM maps were " and a template was made from a large copier from one of those copy places. I then laid the template down, made holes with a sharpie marker at every single place where there was an intersection of lines and along the outer edge because they all had to fit together when turned around to make them more versatile " just like the A&AM Maps. Then using a metal strait edge about 4' long I used a foam knife from a company called hotwire foam factory and connected the dots by cutting/burning them into it. Afterwards was the much more fun and rewarding part of carving it up with roads hills and the occasional stream or small lake. I flocked them in much the same way. It was important to test a few brands to get one that resists warping or that is a WHOLE nother can of worms. Here are some with hedges like the Bocage after the Normandy invasion.... What I nightmare battle that was....

Of course As soon as I have something it will give me an excuse to look through my hard drive to find some other stuff that might be of interest and I can get a new copy out to people!

LOL,,, ahhh yes the ever shrinking dollar. It would even be that amount I would think to send something like this all the way downunder.... I am honored though that you feel it is worth that much. I have the labeling idea that I'll probably go with here it is let me know what everyone thinks. I bought these colored thumb tacks and am using the yellow one's to represent every space that you would draw a card from but each with a diff number such as all 6 Fields spaces have a yellow tac that has the number 1 on them. All 4 woods spaces have a yellow tac with the number 2 and so on and so forth with a little booklet " that I still need to make " which will have that color and what the special rules for that number like the Yellow 1 would just say " Fields, Draw one Card if there is not already one Present ". Now if it were something like a Yellow 9 Which will be one of the 2 Desert Spaces It would have Draw one Card. Lose one life. LOL... or what ever the actual wording is in the FAC... I need to make sure these will be corrects. Now the next color is Orange and that will be for any space where you either need to chose what to do or just need to roll a dice so these will be numbered also. If a player lands on the Village lets say there will be a small orange thumbtack with the number 1 on it. Looking for the orange numbers in their booklet will see orange 1 being Village and the options for that area.... The Inner Region will be divided. I used two colors one blue and one Red...." You all know ". Some " such as the Valley of Fire and the Plain of Peril will have two " blue and Red ,,,1 and 5 respectfully " and rules one what must be done there " even a note that they can go backwards and can't stop until they get all the way out and don't need to do each test when doing so. OK I guess I made it sound more complicated than it is but this way eliminates big labels on the board " already very busy " and I can add things like the boat man in the city if I want to. So you think it would work OK?

Hey folks I made a video " warning it's about 8 mins " and put it up on you tube. If this link does not work just search Talisman 3d game and you should come across it. Sorry did not work. I've no idea how to link something in that program. Give me time. Just search it if you want to see it. It's a little over the top really. I had to laugh afterwards.
