Does anyone know if the Daedalus Expansion Pack will feature any Characters from the Golden Globe Social Club or will it be more Union Vs Reich.

There is a big Minotaur type piece featured on the coming soon section on the TOY site. Anyone got any info on the big fella?

In another thread it mentioned some unknown Union & Reich pieces to come in Winter 08. Does anyone know if there are anymore Mercenaries on route.

Thx

Personally, I am currently hoping that is not a new character. I mean really, really hoping not a new character.

A Minotaur is for fantasy genre games. Definitely not a horror-modern war genre game. We have demons and sci-fi already and the back story allows this to work fine within the world framework of Tannhäuser. Adding Mythological Creatures does not work for me and there is nothing in the current back story that I am aware of (at least in English) to explain their existance.

Sorry lad but asterios, the minotaur, is the main (and only) mini of Daedalus. No character of the Golden Globe has been announced by now. Take no You said that they'll use this packaging ( 1 fig and 1 map ) for further expansions.

Though straight-up fantasy is my least favorite genre (I prefer pulp or sci fi), I don't seem to mind the apppearance of the Minotaur in the Tannhauser world.

It reminds me of David Brin's The Life Eaters where mythological entities appear during WW2.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Life_Eaters

Also the new faction of the Matriarcy wields powers bestowed by Slavic gods.

As for Hoax I believe her to be the red haired spy that appears here:

As I understand from the french forum the mini is partialy clear to reflect some sort of stealth technology she can use.

I am also not too thrilled to have a Minotaur joining the Tannhauser world. The minute I see an elf I am out.

I would have been dissapointed if I wouldnt have gotten a minotaur In the Labyrinth of Minos. I wouldnt want to drown in Legendary characters though, but a few mythical characters and enteties would be nice.

I'll wait for the Expansion pack before judging if it fit well, or not, in the Tannhäuser mythos. Myhtological creatures are not new, unofficial scenarios have used them since early 2007; "Les yeux de la gorgone" with the ghost of Medusa or "Opération Cursed Ice" with the spirit of Hel, a nordic goddess...

I've translated (with Gruberts help) Les yeux de la gorgone (Eyes of the Gorgon) and playtested it about three times. I'll get the translated files to Plageman shortly. I've also made a new card and tokens - here's a peek:

There we are opposites as the massive majority of my games are fantasy based. I really don't need the crossover as I already have HeroScape and it crosses over everything!

True enough. I still remember seeing a sneak peek at Star Wars long before its release in theaters (yes, I am that old) and complaining that the blond furry thing flying the space ship didn't even look like an ape! Oh, dopey me ...

I'm still touching up the Medusa for a pdf. After that I'll finish the Ikarus tokens. Since I've already put up those two previews I feel obligated to finish them, so I don't think I'll be tackling anything else in the near future.

Thanks to all for giving the info you have. I have got to admit the Minotaur is a bit of a strange addition. A demonic entity would have probably fitted the bill better. I will reserve judgement until I know all the details. Maybe the mini will not look so Rocky & Bulwinkle'esque as the card. By the way! I like the Medusa card & pic's. If they are going to go down this road it would see a shame not to produce Medusa. It's a shame there is no word on the Golden Globe Social Club or any new Merc's to date.

I too am intrigued by this Golden Globe Social Club.

I can't help but think of the Hermetic Order Of The Silver Twilight from the Call Of Cthulhu rpg.

I think that an independant occult orginization might make a good rival for the Reich!

My guess is that the members of the Golden Globe won't make an appearance as figs until the release of the Cerberus board game set in the 30's. I think that they'll will try to stick to the military theme for the main game, and that the offshoot will be more "adventurous/pulp".

I can only guess that the Minotaur will be on neither side & it's place in the game is some sort of tomb guardian. The faction entering the tomb then has to face the beast to retrieve the artifact. This could sort of fit in with the flavour of the game.

It seems weird that a whole map will only come with one mini. TOY will need to produce at least 4 individual packs & two expansions per annum to keep the masses happy in my book.

One thing that confuses me slightly is how big will the Minotaur be? Baring in mind the pathfinder system. If he is bigger that one circle? How will this translate on to the board.

FFG/TOY could really do with getting some story line up or I can see players getting confused about where the game is going. At the moment I am in for the ride.

I too am intrigued by this Golden Globe Social Club.

I was hoping for an Extraordinary League of Gentlemen type group.

What is this Cerberus game?

Cerberus is rumored to be a spin-off board game set two decades earlier in the Tannhäuser universe. It's said to be "chock full" of painted miniatures. It's also rumored that it will be possible to use figs in the main game but how this will be done is still a mystery. At least they'll be of the same scale and graphic design.

I heard that TOY will produce 3 Single Pack a year plus one Expansion for the main game. The Expansion will contain a Map and a fig for a lower retail price than Novgorod (35€). If Cerberus, which is planned for 2009, is successful he will follow the same pattern (3 Single Pack + 1Expansion Pack a year). I they're compatible that would make 6 Single Pack and 2 Expansions a year which is quite fine to me.

Wow where do you get your info from Plageman. The info re this Cerberus set is the sort of thing TOY & FFG should be getting out there. A set chock full of minis sounds very interesting to me. Are you sure the designer isn't your cousin or something

Omigod - yes!

Even better, in Warren Ellis's Planetary comic there was a pulp style LOEG that featured analogues of Doc Savage, Tarzan, The Shadow, and Fu Manchu as well as an inventor, an aviator, and a g-man - now that would be a great faction!:

Again, I can't recomend enough, David Brin's The Life Eaters as some fun Weird War:

Also, here's a preview of my promised forthcoming Eyes Of The Gorgon english translation:

That's what I am talking about! Exactly what Tannhäuser needs!!! More era-related pulp, less D&D fantasy figures!

We don't need Mythology.

• We need the stuff that was fantasy of that era become real in Tannhäuser ... You have Flash Gordon in fantasy - The Union has the crashed Roswell ship, so let's see some of that come through for the Union!

• The early part of the 20th century was all about the Occult, let's see more of that for the Reich.

• The designer's really need to go back to their history classes (or, perhaps they did but took ancient history by mistake?!?)

That's coming along nice. To make Medusa palatable (at least to me) in the Tannhäuser universe, however, she needs a back story as to why Medusa even exists (simply calling Medusa by the generic Gorgon actually helps make her existence slightly more esculent to my sensibilities) ...

So a Mummy or a Chinese Ghost would be acceptable but not an "Ancient" monster ?
I too would love to see a non-militaristic group of characters but I guess I'll have to wait until Cerberus is out in 2009

Truth be told, I can deal with mythological - it comes from history.

Even demonic entities in the game are based on a sort of myth.

But straight up fantasty - meh!
