New Weapons Against the Ancient Ones 24
Available this winter, custom dice for Arkham Horror!
Arkham Horror | Published 17 September 2009

Pete stumbled back from the bank of the river, falling into a pile of soft, wet leaves. As the menacing form emerged from the water, Duke yipped at it ferociously. Pete clutched at the ground in a panic, feeling desperately in the darkness for something to throw or swing.... something to defend himself with.

This winter, you’ll have a new weapon in the ongoing fight to keep the streets of Arkham safe. Fantasy Flight Games is pleased to announce the upcoming release of Arkham Horror Custom Dice! Designed by Q-Workshop, producers of high-quality polyhedral dice, these highly-detailed six-sided dice are cast from hand-carved originals, and feature sculpted number faces as well as Elder signs on the "5" and "6" sides indicating successes!

Arkham Horror is a boardgame of mystery and madness set in Arkham in the 1920's. Players investigate the strange happenings about the town, and race to prevent ancient evil from surfacing. Playable with 1-8 players.

If you look at the corner on the elder sign sides, the number is clearly visible even in these pictures (look at the middle top row, top corner for example.) So, you should still be able to delineate blessed/cursed sucesses

So, are these weighted to only roll 2's?

I see they are made for normal checks.  We need blue dice with elders on 4, 5 and 6 for blessed checks, red dice with elder only on the 6 for cursed checks.  Tell me about it.

They look pretty sweet but I have a feeling it's gonna be like twelve bucks for a set of five dice. About a buck a die is the most I'll spend on dice.

I was more excited about these until I saw they were by Q Workshop. I'm not a big fan of all the frills they put on the dice, because they often make it harder to read the dice. But the colors are cool, and I like that the 5 and 6's both have the Elder Sign so you know when you got a success (unless, of course, you are cursed). And on the 6 siders the frills don't seem so bad.

I'll still buy a set. But I don't think the dice are as cool as they could have been.

After a second glance at the deion, it looks like the numbers and Elder signs are sculted, so those won't fade...the designs are not mentioned, however. I'm hoping they are also carved into the dice face.

"feature sculpted number faces"

Does this mean the numbers, elder signs, and designs are sculpted, or just the numbers?  It would be a shame if the elder signs and designs wore off like the images on the Doom dice.
