The forces of the Warhammer World are convening at GenCon to establish dominance. Make sure to check them out in the Card Game hall, as we will have open play events for anyone who picks up a core set at the Fantasy Flight Games booth.
For those of you who wish to get a leg up on the competition, make sure to check out the rules. (pdf, 2.8 mb)
Also make sure to check out the Orc and Dwarf article appearing later this week.
Warhammer Invasion The Card Game is a card game, by Eric M. Lang, in which 2 players develop their kingdoms and lay waste to their foes. Each side is comprised of either the forces of Order -Dwarfs, High Elves, Empire- or the forces of Destruction -Orcs, Chaos, Dark Elves- as they seek to extend their empire to include the entire Old World.
If it weren't for the LCG format, I wouldn't be playing any card games right now, nor would I have discovered AGOT and COC (both of which I'd heard good things about for a while but just couldn't afford to check out).
I hope that, sooner or later, other companies see the wisdom of such a format. It maintains almost all the best parts of CCGs, and removes the worst.
It does mean less money for the company itself, though, so that's probably why such an excellent model is not more widespread. :(
LCG is still a collectable format in essense, escpecially if you want to go beyond the first set. It's just not a blind boostin' game...or at least for everyone except for that first non-FFG employee that opens a pack.
Thanks for posting. Looking forward to playing this one.
This is great Stuff. Oh and TorBal just to let you know it's not a CCG type game. It's A LGC. Basicly you get all of the cards Rares included per pack. Each pack will have the same #, and type of card in them. So it is easy one the bank account.
Nice to see FFG is able to get their Games Workshop tie-in products out at such a brisk pace. It would be interesting to know if the faster-tracked production schedule is a result of more employees or just an emphasis on getting the GW stuff pumped out.
All in all, this is good news for the fans. And if any collectible card game could get me back into card flopping, this Warhammer Invasion game would be a likely candidate.
Is there anyway that we could get the rules in a more printer friendly fashion?
Woot! Nice to see that Dark Elves are getting a city in the next release set... well, once the first release set is released, heh. ;)
Looks promising. ^^
Alright........ now that I just got Middle-Earth Quest and was trying to get a grasp at the rules, the rules for Chaos in the Old World come out of the darkness, and now this!!! Will my brain cope? Will I be able to assimilate all the data required? I need a sanity check....
Woot! Thanks a ton guys!
