The (Ground) Beneath Your Wings 21
Wings of War Game Mats available now!
Wings of War | Published 16 June 2009

Take to the skies! Wings of War Game Mats are now available at your friendly local game store and the FFG Online Store.

Wings of War Game Mats can be used as scenario maps for reconnaissance and bombing missions, or as convenient table coverings to enhance your Wings of War experience, immersing you deeper in the rich tapestry of epic duels and heroic effort that took place in the skies during World War I, the birthplace of aerial combat.

The mats are large, 98 x 68cm (38.6 x 26.8in), about the size of an average poster, made of a durable rubber foam with fabric bonded to the top, similar to a mouse pad.

Wings of War Game Mats come in an East and a West section, and can be used separately or combined with the other half to create a larger battlefield.

The mats are great looking but the LOGO HAS TO GO!!!!! I did not pick them up due to how large the two logos were. I will stay with my blue mat and cotton. Please revise LOGO next production run and I will buy the Mats

Whoa! Lay out these mats, and place a couple of minis on them...

Fan-tastic looking!

The mats  aren't hyper detailed, but rather they have a nice blend of colors and detail, and go together extremely well with the miniatures to form the perfect background. The combination of miniatures and  background mats are just super looking! The logo issue is really being blown way out of proportion. There are two logos per mat, but they are of a moderate size and are no more of a distraction than the aircraft information displayed on the miniature bases.

The mats themselves are just like giant mouse pads, and the rubber backing grips to a table top like glue! You may bump the table itself, but you won't be bumping these mats one bit on a table top.

Now the miniatures won't be maneuvering around on woodgrain or felt any longer, and I really am suprised at how much a difference these mats make to the look of the game! A background board/mat was long overdue for this game. Now we have the next piece in the overall Wings of War "experience" that is being assembled for us, bit by bit, by Nexus & FFG!

In looking at my own miniatures on these mats, I swear I could almost hear the distance tat-tat-tat of machine guns...bring on the balloons and set IV aircraft! The look of the miniatures on these mats is simply spectacular!

You should have reduced the price if you intended this as an advertising medium ("WINGS of WAR") rather than a playing surface! Don't even want to think how bad those logos are going to look when you have the mats side by side. :-(

I'm not thrilled about the huge logos, but I will still buy both maps.

those large logos where a big mistake, really spoiled something that otherwise looked great. Smaller logos on the edge of the mat would have been ok

Hmm, I like the game, I like the minis, but not the logos on the map. Won't buy it, sorry.

Hmmm...logos or your average table top, hmmm...logos...or a table top...

Pretty easy choice for me, I'll take the logo's and the mats anyday. Just got off the phone with my FLAGS; 2 on hold for pick up tomorrow morning.

I can't wait to see the WWI planes on these mats, the visual ought to be out of this world! When you have such superb looking miniature models,  the mats  complete the whole visual effect.

For Wings of War fans, this is just one more piece of the pie for a super game.  Next up I believe, are the Balloon packs, and hopefully series IV soon after that. I can't wait to see SE5as get in the furball and mix it up!

Logo's? Who's going to be looking at the logos with miniatures on the board! Not me!!

Sorry, but this is completely ruined for me by the two huge Wings of War logos. Combine the mats and you get FOUR huge WoW logos - ARGHHH!
