“I recall that the people went about with pale and worried faces, and whispered warnings and prophecies which no one dared consciously repeat or acknowledge to himself that he had heard. A sense of monstrous guilt was upon the land, and out of the abysses between the stars swept chill currents that made men shiver in dark and lonely places.”
–H.P. Lovecraft, Nyarlathotep
Seekers of Knowledge represents Miskatonic University’s largest incoming class since the Core Set, and once these new characters step into the University’s halls, they quickly learn they have no time to spare…
A host of dark Prophecies draw the attention of the game’s cultists, servitors, and criminals. These new events appear as though they may each contain part of a greater picture, but as is the way of a humanity incapable of fathoming the deeper secrets of the universe, each of the game’s factions applies its own fragment of the prophecies according to its own strengths. The new Students and Faculty arriving at Miskatonic University are no different in this regard, and they hope to unravel the mysteries hidden within the prophecies of A Vörös Hal’l Jön (Seekers of Knowledge, 29) and Por V 1:20 (Seekers of Knowledge, 32) before the world can plummet into chaos.
In Seekers of Knowledge, Miskatonic’s Investigators undertake this desperate quest for knowledge with a newfound fervor, reaching far from the relative safety of Arkham, Massachusetts to hunt for truth in craggy, rain-lashed caves; unforgiving polar climes; and legendary Lost Civilizations.
The scope of Miskatonic University’s exploratory efforts even demand the introduction of a whole new subtype for Miskatonic’s characters, the Explorer. Individually, each explorer is willing to venture to distant lands for truth, but together, they present a formidable force for the advancement of science. Each explorer offers synergies in combination with other explorers, providing Toughness, Willpower, Fast, or additional Skill and icons. The more you have of these capable knowledge-seekers, the better your chances are that you’ll uncover the secrets you desire.
Secrets of a Seventh Gate
But what are the secrets you may unlock? Should you really decipher them? In Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game, such knowledge always comes with a measure of risk. Weak minds snap, and their owners go mad. Some are corrupted by whispers of forbidden power. Some follow the secrets down paths that suddenly appear, and those curious minds may disappear forever.
Could the fragmented Prophecies hint at the coming of a terrible power? In addition to the new Miskatonic characters, events, and support cards, Seekers of Knowledge introduces powerful new characters for each of the game’s seven other factions, including several frightening new Ancient Ones. And if the expansion’s dark new prophecies tell of their coming, will this information be used to open the gates and usher forth the end times? Or will Miskatonic’s heroic Explorers, professors, and investigators race ahead of their demented rivals and seal off the portals to the beyond, buying humanity another day?
The stakes are the fate of humanity. The cost may be your sanity. The truth waits to be uncovered. Seekers of Knowledge is now available at your local retailer and online on our webstore. Pick up your copy today!
