Fantasy Flight Games recently collaborated with Dust Studio to offers fans a unique opportunity to make their mark upon the world of Dust Tactics. The Dust Tactics Walker Conversion Contest drew dozens of exciting entries inspired by the devastating combat walkers from Paolo Parente’s alternate-reality World War II.

Today, we are pleased to announce the winners. We’ll also share some commentary Paolo Parente’s offered about his experience judging the contest with Vincent Fontaine, Art Director of Dust Studio.

Category Winners

Best Allies Model – Byron Xavier

Byron Xavier won the Best Allies Model prize for his British Cruiser Walker A27Wa “Contender.”

Byron writes about his walker, “One of the fastest medium walkers available to the Allied forces, the Contender evolved from early Cromwell tank designs and some of the developments on that project can still be seeon on this walker. Utilizing the phenomenal Christie engine that had been built for the tank, the Contender achieves speeds that would be typical for a light walker.

Best Axis Model – Isaiah Burgess

Isaiah Burgess won the Best Axis Model prize for his modified Königs-Luther. With its new bow hull section, mounted twin MGs, and other custom touches, this Heavy Panzer Walker would make a beautiful and terrifying addition to any battlefield!

Best Axis Concept – Kris Gorham

Kris Gorham won the Best Axis Concept prize for his Schwer Panzer Kampflauer IV-SD-F Hölle Läufer, “Hell Runner.” Designed primarily as a mine sweeper, the Hell Runner can also use its flails to batter infantry and shred lightly armored vehicles.

As winner of the Best Axis Concept prize, Kris will have his walker turned into a new model kit available from Dust Studio! Congratulations, Kris!

A Word from Paolo Parente

Greetings fellow Dust Tactics players and modelers!

Vincent and l had a hard time making our selection, but we are happy with the results of the Dust Tactics Conversion Contest.

The Axis guys did an overwhelming job this year. Many great entries, and a lot of good ideas even for models whose category was not in the rules of the contest…Yes, guys, the SSU was not part of the contest!

Allied players! We need more from you on both modeling and creative sides.

I also wanted to tell you why l am awarding two Honor Prizes this year: it’s my way to say “thank you” to all those Dust enthusiasts who were able to move us with their entries. Many thanks, indeed!

Thanks again,
Paolo

Congratulations to the winners! Each of them will receive a $200 credit to dust-models.com. Our thanks also to all those who participated for making this an exciting and rewarding celebration of Dust Tactics, its alternate-history World War II combats, and its amazing miniatures!

Dust Tactics is a tactical miniatures game of brutal combat for 2-4 players. Based on the popular universe created by artist Paolo Parente, Dust Tactics presents an alternate 1940s reality in which alien technology fuels gigantic machines of war, and the world's superpowers clash over rare mineral deposits that could ultimately decide the outcome of WWII.
