Premium painted Arkham Horror Monster Figures are now available
Arkham Horror Premium Figures | Published 17 January 2012

It seemed to be a sort of monster [...] of a form which only a diseased fancy could conceive. [...] A pulpy, tentacled head surmounted a grotesque and scaly body with rudimentary wings; but it was the general outline of the whole which made it most shockingly frightful.
     – H.P. Lovecraft, The Call of Cthulhu

Otherworldly horrors tear at the thin fabric of reality, seeking to intrude on our dimension for their own inscrutable purposes. To look upon their terrifying forms is to risk insanity, for these shapeless beasts have a strange, almost mesmerizing beauty. Those unfortunate individuals who lay eyes on such cosmic abominations are often drawn inexplicably toward them, and into their own merciful demise.

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce that the first wave of premium Arkham Horror Monster Figures is now available for sale through our webstore! Joining the already complete lineup of Arkham Horror Investigators, these stunning hand-painted figures will further enhance the visual impact of your favorite Lovecraftian board game. What's more, each monster's base is designed with a slot to accommodate its monster token from Arkham Horror or Mansions of Madness!

First through the gate

Wave One, the harbingers of a far greater invasion, includes eighteen blood-curdling creatures and minions with which to challenge your investigators. From the wormlike Chthonian to the axe-wielding Maniac, from the predatory Hound of Tindalos to the sanity-shattering Dunwich Horror, Arkham Horror Monster Figures will immerse you in cosmic terror.

Visit our Arkham Horror Premium Figures website to see the full lineup (you can see larger versions of each figure through our webstore). Then, place your order and bring these unholy abominations to your tabletop!

Note to Retailers: Due to the manufacturing costs of these figures, we are unable to offer this Fantasy Flight Collector product through normal distribution channels. As with the investigators, I look forward to these being made available unpainted in Mansions of Madness expansion sets. Of the eighteen figures in the first wave, I find most of the sculpts very good to excellent. Paint app is not exactly what I would be happy with personally, so I am happy to do that work myself.

I must admit I'm tempted to pick up Old Man Whately and the Dunwich Horror. It's one of my favourite stories and I think the sculpts of those two are pretty spot on.

Please FFG, get to work on some new MoM expansions! After you have finished sorting out Forbidden Alchemy, of course!

I think they are saying that the series, being painted, is a premium series. We all know that superior, professionally painted minis are going to be much more expensive that the $4-$10 range of these minis. Our local minis guy did an incredibly awesome job painting our minis for Mansions, but I will still order this entire set because a) I like them, b) they will be fun to play with. and c) I'd like to see more. These are, after all, an after-market addition to the game and are in no way required to play, so it's not like FFG is forcing anyone to buy them.

It also makes me think that an upcoming Mansions box might be focused on Dunwich...

Don't get me wrong - I like the figures.
And I like that it seems as if we will get some dark young figures as well as other really cool ones with coming expansions of the Mansions of Madness games.
I do not really like all of the colouring schemes, but that is just personal taste. And they do look great.

But I have to admit I made a mistake. Having not played AH for a long time, I thought the Gate Symbol was placed on another location of the specific monster token...

Really pleased to see these available and hopefully all the Arkham Horror Monsters will be released, including the Dunwich Horror (extra large please!).

It could get quite expensive having enough to represent multiple monsters of the same type.

I don't think I'll actually put the chits in the figures - due to wear and tear and as I've sleeved them they will be too big now anyway - however, like the investigator figures, they will be a nice 3D marker on the board bringing it to life.

Mike: Yeah, I had to cut and sand some of the spokes so it didn't scratch the cards...

these look just like the mansion of madness pieces but painted. and just to warn people, I have noticed that the MoM pieces will damage the arkham horror monster cardboard pieces when you put them in.  Yes, they sorta fit and you can see all the info, but a piece of plastic scraps the top of the monster card.
