Announcing the first Asylum Pack from the Revelations cycle

Possibly Gilman ought not to have studied so hard. Non-Euclidean calculus and quantum physics are enough to stretch any brain; and when one mixes them with folklore, and tries to trace a strange background of multi-dimensional reality behind the ghoulish hints of the Gothic tales and the wild whispers of the chimney-corner, one can hardly expect to be wholly free from mental tension.
–H.P. Lovecraft, The Dreams in the Witch House

The quest for a deeper understanding of reality permeates Written and Bound, the first Asylum Pack from the upcoming Revelations cycle for Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game.

While a few sensitive minds shudder at the darker powers they perceive, the bulk of humanity goes about its daily business blissfully unaware of the terrible powers that slowly dig their claws into the very heart of society. Cultists and servitors worship the dread Ancient Ones and seek to extend their influence on earth. Secret societies conduct dark rituals in hidden chambers beneath public notice, criminals buy and sell eldritch relics on the black market, and otherworldly creatures flit through the dimensions, existing beyond the realm of human perception.

Frightening truths and shadowy intents

In Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game, Revelations of the world’s true nature can drive people insane, yet there are still a number of power-hungry or ideological knowledge-seekers who scour the world in search of the rare artifacts, journals, and other tomes that can provide limited insight into the elder powers and their impact upon human history.

Written and Bound introduces 60 new cards (3 copies each of 20 cards) that reinforce the power of knowledge and the importance of knowledge seekers in the Call of Cthulhu mythos. New Tome cards, a Library, Criminals, Scientists, Investigators, and Relic Hunters all provide the different factions powerful new ways to use knowledge to manipulate the world to their own ends… or to liberate it from the Ancient One’s ever-tightening grasp.

While the true agenda of the Order of the Silver Twilight remains unknown, their presence in the game continues to grow and mature. Their recent acquisition of the T’tka Halot (Written and Bound, 14) now fuels their investigation of dark Rituals and powerful Spells, allowing Lodge members to move unhindered throughout the places of power where they seek out greater and deeper secrets to fuel their machinations.

Forming a plan

With Written and Bound, the different factions gain new means to reinforce or adjust their plans, utilizing the knowledge they acquire. Look to adapt your plans to account for newly discovered variables when Written and Bound releases in the first quarter of 2012!

Based on the fiction of H.P. Lovecraft and his literary circle, Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game takes two players deep into the Cthulhu Mythos where investigators clash with the Ancient Ones and Elder Gods for the fate of the world. The Living Card Game format allows players to customize their gaming experience with monthly Asylum Pack expansions to the core game.

"Will 'Library' be a new subtype?!"

Looks like it. Propably the support card equivalent of a Relic Hunter, i.e. a card to search your deck for Tome cards?

I sense the ascension of The O'Bannion Crime Syndicate. Or at least some much needed TLC.
