“Take their gold, burn their homes, kill their families and enslave their souls. Show them no mercy.”
–Malekith, Witch King of Naggaroth
Now is a time for hatred without end as the Dark Elves hatch malicious new schemes from behind the vast walls of Naggarond, the Tower of Cold. Cold-hearted and cruel, the warriors of Naggaroth thrive on the fear and loathing they sow throughout their enemies. No one is safe from their attentions…
Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce the upcoming release of City of Winter, the fifth Battle Pack in The Capital Cycle for Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game! With three copies each of 20 unique cards (half of which are devoted to the Dark Elves and their unending hatred), City of Winter is an invaluable Battle Pack for players looking to wreak vengeance upon their foes.
The Siege Lord Rises
The design team for Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game offers additional insight into City of Winter:
The Dark Elves love to disrupt their opponents’ plans. They discard cards, steal resources, drop unit hit points, and even take control of their opponents’ cards. You never know quite what to expect next when facing these fearsome raiders.
In City of Winter the Dark Elves get a new hero, Egathrond (City of Winter, 88). While other Dark Elf strategies also get a boost in this pack, Egathrond gives the Dark Elves the ability to deal a killing blow to your opponent and finish the game. While his stats are not terribly impressive, his ability to smash through pesky new Fortifications, such as Wall of Maggots (The Inevitable City, 12), and destroy developments can be devastating. The latter ability, in particular, can force an opponent to keep developing zones, knowing that even the declaration of an attack could lead to a burned zone.
The battle rages on all sides
As the Dark Elves amass their power behind the towering walls of Naggarond, the other factions will have to consider how to make best use of the new warriors, tactics, and fortifications available to reinforce their sides.
Look for the Dark Elves to rally for battle behind Egathrond when City of Winter arrives in the Fourth Quarter of 2011.
Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game is a card
game by Eric M. Lang in which 2 players develop their kingdoms and lay waste to their foes. Each side is comprised of either the forces of Order or the forces of Destruction as they seek to extend their empire to include the entire Old World. The Living Card Game format allows players to customize their gaming experience with monthly Battle Pack expansions to the core game.
Really like the art on this
I wonder why the Bleeding Wall(The Inevitable City, 11) did not end up a fortification.
Q4? How can they say that when there are only four months remaining this year and we don't even have Capital Cycle 1 yet? Also, I wonder if during this cycle, they will release a "deluxe" boxed expansion in the middle of it, like the past three cycles/boxed expansions, or they will wait until the end of the cycle from now on. Looking forward to hearing about what that next boxed expansion might be focused on.
but it still shows some cards so is it really that bad
it is NOT a card of the week , it is announcing the fifth Battle Pack :(
It's about damn time FFG. Thanks.
Finally the long awaited preview!
