“The Iron Throne is mine by rights. All those who deny that are my foes.” - Stannis Baratheon
“The whole of the realm denies it, brother. Old men deny it with their death rattle, and unborn children deny it in their mothers’ wombs. They deny it in Dorne and they deny it on the Wall. No one wants you for their king... You may well have the better claim, but I have the larger army.” - Renly Baratheon
Fantasy Flight Games is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of A Game of Thrones: The Board Game Second Edition! The newly updated version of this popular title offers a number of enhancements, while preserving the tense battle of military and diplomatic superiority that has become a favorite of thousands of hobby gamers.

Based on George R. R. Martin’s bestselling A Song of Ice and Fire novels, this internationally beloved game places players in charge of the six Great Houses of Westeros, where they must unseat the other Houses and claim sole dominance over a continent shattered by war and political upheaval. By mustering and sustaining massive armies, conquering territory, vying for power, and forming fragile alliances, each player will aim to ultimately control the most castles and strongholds, affirming him as the peoples’ chosen leader and rightful king. You’ll need aid on your path, but be careful in whom you place your trust...
Updated art, components, and more
The updated second edition brings a host of enhancements to your A Game of Thrones experience. It includes elements from the A Clash of Kings and A Storm of Swords expansions, including ports, garrisons, Wildling cards, and Siege engines, while introducing welcome new innovations like player screens and Tides of Battle cards. This, along with updated graphics and a clarified ruleset, means the time has never been better to take control of Westeros.
Visit our description page to learn more about the specific enhancements in this exciting new edition, and keep checking back as we present in-depth previews in the coming weeks (you can also demo it at Gen Con 2011!). Then, in the fourth quarter of 2011, raise your House to dominance!
Based on the best-selling novel series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin, A Game of Thrones: The Board Game Second Edition lets 3-6 players take control of the great houses of Westeros in an epic struggle to claim the Iron Throne.
"p.d: I laugh of the people who pay $200 for the first edition"
indeed
why not more of Westeros things? instead 2nd edition of this one..
Sold. It looks beautiful! Can't wait to read the advance rulebook!
improvement on a good game, hoping it will be a great game
Sounds exciting. I always wanted a 1st ed. but didn't like the absence of Dorne, nor did I want to get an "overlay" in expansion one... or the mini-game of expansion 2. This looks like my perfect storm. A blizzard has come.
WOW!!!!!!!! excelent news!!!! BIG news!!!
p.d: I laugh of the people who pay $200 for the first edition
Awesome news and cant wait to demo it at GenCon....man, the rate FFG is going I might never leave their booth!!
But I do wonder...
"It includes elements from the A Clash of Kings and A Storm of Swords expansions"
...so this means that all 3 original games are now in one game? I would love it all in one package and am assuming so....
Oh my god... Oh my gods... Oh my oh, Oh, OHHHH NERDGASM!!!!!!
The board and art look amazing! Is it overkill to own the 1st and 2nd editions?
This is awesome! I've wanted to pick this up for a long time, and I'll be checking out the demo at GenCon. Wish I could pick up a copy at GenCon... oh well.
Cannot tell you how excited I am!
I was so bummed when I sold my 1st edition copy and then the show came out and everybody suddenly was a fan. Now I can not only get a copy again for a more reasonable price, but its updated with a 2nd edition awesomeness? Pure win FFG. Surprised you didn't announce this sooner though. I wonder how many people regret overpaying for 1st edition on ebay.
This is awesomely unexpected news! Looks great! I'm brimming with excitement! Thanks FFG!
