“The Iron Throne is mine by rights. All those who deny that are my foes.” - Stannis Baratheon
“The whole of the realm denies it, brother. Old men deny it with their death rattle, and unborn children deny it in their mothers’ wombs. They deny it in Dorne and they deny it on the Wall. No one wants you for their king... You may well have the better claim, but I have the larger army.” - Renly Baratheon
Fantasy Flight Games is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of A Game of Thrones: The Board Game Second Edition! The newly updated version of this popular title offers a number of enhancements, while preserving the tense battle of military and diplomatic superiority that has become a favorite of thousands of hobby gamers.

Based on George R. R. Martin’s bestselling A Song of Ice and Fire novels, this internationally beloved game places players in charge of the six Great Houses of Westeros, where they must unseat the other Houses and claim sole dominance over a continent shattered by war and political upheaval. By mustering and sustaining massive armies, conquering territory, vying for power, and forming fragile alliances, each player will aim to ultimately control the most castles and strongholds, affirming him as the peoples’ chosen leader and rightful king. You’ll need aid on your path, but be careful in whom you place your trust...
Updated art, components, and more
The updated second edition brings a host of enhancements to your A Game of Thrones experience. It includes elements from the A Clash of Kings and A Storm of Swords expansions, including ports, garrisons, Wildling cards, and Siege engines, while introducing welcome new innovations like player screens and Tides of Battle cards. This, along with updated graphics and a clarified ruleset, means the time has never been better to take control of Westeros.

Based on the best-selling novel series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin, A Game of Thrones: The Board Game Second Edition lets 3-6 players take control of the great houses of Westeros in an epic struggle to claim the Iron Throne.
I hope that in the future they would redesign the map especially in the North so Winterfell woudn't look so expose and Lannister could buy a little more time from the warmonger ironborn. Also I dream of seeing the game with something approaching The Feast for Crows online unofficial expansion. Having the Tuly, Arryn and maybe even the Targaryans (I'm sceptical as to where put last one on the map) would defintively raise the diplomatical option and augment the plotting/backstabbing adequately.
I have the base game and both expansions, so I will be satisfied with those. This looks pretty, though.
Fantastic. Managed to miss out on this the first time round. Glad I didn't spend huge amounts of money on ebay now.
I agree. I hope they at least redesigned the shape. Losing the wooden pieces is probably going to hurt the game's classy feeling. Leaving the design ugly too would be adding insult to injury.
I was disappointed to read about plastic pieces in the new edition. I always felt that the wooden pieces gave the game a very classy feel and appearance.
All copies of 1st edition were sold in Poland and there is no way to get it right now. I don't like buyind from second hand so 2nd edition will find place on my table. Polish 2.0 version in autumn.
Change the playing pieces already! The old ones are too UGLY!
(Yeah,I said it !)
Hopefully this will just be all the expansions & coregame in a prettier package... Hopefully no ruleschanges...sigh...
I don't want to say this...but...damn! Anyone want to buy my old one? ha ha ha
Great news! Should we expect the Russian edition?
Fourth quarter! Oh well, (Wait for it!)..."Winter is coming!".
Oh my. And the people that has the first edition (with all the expansions, and it took me a lot of time to hunt them), is screwed?
