High lords and fabled champions had come from all over the realm to compete, and the whole city had turned out to watch. [...] The days had rung to the sounds of trumpets and pounding hooves, and the nights had been full of feasts and song.

Fantasy Flight Games is pleased to announce Tourney for the Hand, the next exciting Chapter Pack for A Game of Thrones: The Card Game! This first pack in the A Tale of Champions cycle is themed around the great tournaments of Westeros.
Tourney for the Hand is the first monthly installment of 60 fixed cards (3 copies each of 20 unique cards) for the A Tale of Champions expansion to A Game of Thrones: The Card Game. The never-before-seen cards in this expansion introduce two new keywords–melee and joust–new elements that will create thrilling new deck-building opportunities and strategies for A Game of Thrones.
In Sing a Song of Champions, Part Two, A Game of Thrones lead developer Damon Stone had this to say about the new keywords, “A Tale of Champions introduces two new keywords that capture the feel of the tournaments of Westeros. The tourneys are an opportunity for warriors to practice specific skills needed to be successful in battle in a comparatively safe setting. [...] Commonly in A Game of Thrones, combat is done en masse, with multiple attackers against multiple defenders. The joust keyword indicates a character’s ability to narrowly focus on his or her task and force an engagement with just a single combatant. [...] In war, being surrounded by foes and fighting through it requires situational awareness, the ability to use your opponent’s greater numbers against them, and the heart to keep fighting against impossible odds. Whether you are engaged in the melee tourney, a battle at the gates of Harrenhal, or during a kingsmoot on Nagga’s Hill, identifying your opponents and using their numbers against them is a skill to be desired. The melee keyword does just that, letting you take advantage of the fog of war to increase your own strength when engaged with multiple enemies.”
Featuring new versions of favorite characters like Arya Stark, Ser Jaime Lannister, Knight of Flowers, developed especially for the new environment of A Tale of Champions, as well as introducing brand-new characters like The Knight, Dorea Sand, and Meera Reed (designed by 2010 Castle Stahleck Champion Andrea Gualdoni), Tourney for the Hand has plenty to interest A Game of Thrones players, both new and veteran.
This fourth quarter, strap on your armor for the Tourney of the Hand!
Based on George R.R. Martin's bestselling fantasy epic A Song of Ice and Fire, A Game of Thrones: The Card Game, playable by 2-4 players, brings the beloved heroes, villains, locations, and events of the world of Westeros to life through innovative game mechanics and the highly strategic game play. The Living Card Game format allows players to customize their gaming experience with monthly Chapter Pack expansions to the core game.
Nice play on words for Jaime.
I wish that one day we'd be getting a Shadowy Jaime for some Shadow Lanni fun.
But this one will do for now. :p
I get it? Jamie...Tourney for the Hand. :)
Meera is AMAZING!!!
I was looking forward to her just from a "Nedly"/thematic point of view anyway, but seeing her previewed in all of her glory is a treat!
- Cool Shadow ability - check!
- Cool Winter bonus - check!
- Fantastic Art - check! (actually, she's quite a bit more comely and "grown-up" looking than I imagined her)
- Great cost, stats, and traits - check!
@Fatmouse: all question that I also made to myself :-) Since we didnt' specified in the text that "cards in play" I think the wording not-plot help undertand the card without faq. As already said all around... hope you will love it and will help the flavor of stark... my only hope is that people will enjoy combo with her and will love having her in their decks... it was so great to have this possibility... and Tiziano had the occasion to draw her first lady... so we are exited about our little and beautiful Meerita!!!
Love it... it would have been crazy good if she could trigger that response from your hand.
somuchgoodness plus arya in the same pack i think starks getting the love in the first of six this cycle
Great card, Gualdo! Definitely some potent stuff going on there. She should be a great boon for Stark.
Even though I'm sure this will be asked many times again:
Q: Can Meera Reed blanks Agendas, House cards, etc?
A: Meera can only blank cards that are in play (which happens to not include plots, making the "non-plot card" wording moot). The Core Rules tells us:
"All non-plot cards in the game are considered 'in play' except for a) cards in your House deck, b) cards in your discard and dead piles, c) your agenda (if any), d) any card that has been 'removed from the game' and e) the cards in your hand."
The Shadows Rules tell us Shadow cards are not considered to be in play. If you blank a House card, you are only blanking its printed text box nothing and are not removing the House affiliation of the House card. Yes, she blanks printed traits.
Hopefully, that covers everything (probably not) XD
Smart card. Not like The Laughing storm. Good Job Gualdo
The box cover is great!!! Jamiiiiiie!
Brilliant card-design from our European Champion. Love her, good work!
