|Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game | Published 01 June 2011|
Back in March, we announced the upcoming release of the Legends Expansion for Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game. This deluxe expansion introduces an exciting card type that works as part of an all-new mechanic: Legends. A Legend card represents one of a faction’s most influential heroes, leaders, and villains; the placement of such of card in your play area affects every zone you control, as it lends its individual strengths to your forces as a whole. Now, the Legends Expansion will be on store shelves in just a few days!
We’ve already seen a handful of Legends, including Archaon, Karl Franz, and Kairos Fateweaver. And we’ve even seen some of the other cards bringing new units and strategies to all six factions, including Armed to da Teef and Oozing Eye. But what about cards that interact with legends?
Inspired by Order
Several units in this expansion gain benefits if you control one of these icons of leadership and power. The Dwarf Thunderer, for example, is a disciplined master of the secrets of gunpowder, and the inspiration he receives from strong leadership takes the form of additional Toughness. Other Order units that benefit from legends include the High Elves’ Ellyrian Knights and the Empire’s Black Guards.
Skilled riders atop some of the finest horses in Ellyrion, the Ellyrian Knights are a deadly weapon in the Pheonix King’s arsenal. But with a legend commanding their movements, these young nobles become deadlier still; their Counterstrike ability helps ensure that attacks against Ulthuan meet a swift response. Finally, the Empire’s Black Guard is an elite group of knights dedicated to the defense of the Emperor. Keeping with their faction’s affinity for zone control, these highly trained riders have the mobility to defend multiple zones when properly directed.
Look for the Legends Expansion for Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game on store shelves very soon, and keep checking back for more!
Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game is a card game by Eric M. Lang in which 2 players develop their kingdoms and lay waste to their foes. Each side is comprised of either the forces of Order or the forces of Destruction as they seek to extend their empire to include the entire Old World. The Living Card Game format allows players to customize their gaming experience with monthly Battle Pack expansions to the core game.
What's wrong with the black guard? unlike warriors of Ulric, you don't have to move the card out of the zone it is currently in.
I agree the art looks great
All three completely useless. When you can afford legent, you won't ever play this kind of cards...
They should probably be a bit more powerful...~what a 4-cost dwarf unit with toughness? I have never seen one of those? :)
A better way to make these usefull would have been to keep their abilities, make them unconditional, and make them cost less if you had a Legend in play. Something along the lines of, "this unit cost's two fewer resources if you control a Legend". Then it would have been worth it.
each of these shown cards will look pretty cool in my card holder, nowhere else. All useless
Love all the art on the new cards.
Wow, those are some total coasters. A 1/3 that can defend anywhere?! If only I didn't have to control a Legend! Oh, wait, there's a Warriors of Ulric right here in my binder that can do that already and can move when I attack if I feel like it. And my deck based around 4-cost Dwarf units with toughness and conditional abilities is really going to love Dwarf Thunderer. Usually when it lost it was because my opponent was finally able to bring down all of my Son of Grungis and Daemonslayers.
