Announcing the revised edition of Arcana, a card game of influence and power
Arcana Revised Edition | Published 11 May 2011

If you cannot win them, bribe them.
If you cannot bribe them, win them.
If you can do neither...you will never rule Cadwallon.

Fantasy Flight Games is pleased to announce the upcoming release of the revised edition of Arcana, a card game of intrigue, bribery, and coercion for 2-4 players. Can your guild claim control of the infamous city or will you be left yearning for power? With new guilds and new optional rules, the revised edition of Arcana will enhance the game’s strategic options.

In this intriguing card game you lead one of six unique guilds, initiates of an exclusive arcanum (area) of power in Cadwallon, vying for domination of the city’s districts. Send your agents to secure the aid of influential citizens and gain precious relics in your quest for ultimate authority. The guild with the most victory points wins!

New guild choices and new playing variants

The revised edition of Arcana offers players two new guilds to lead: the Guild of Fortune-tellers and the Guild of Architects. Are your chosen agents clairvoyant experts, gathering influence through sorcery? Or perhaps you call to action passionate craftsmen, engineers who work with stone, metal, and naphtha?

With the addition of guild choices, the revised edition of Arcana offers players a new experience with each pick of the cards. Arcana’s new playing variants also increase its replayability. There are six new rule options for players to choose from, or you can play with them all for a more challenging experience.

Players can customize their guild, fulfill objectives, recruit Militia, invoke the ability of their Guild Masters, affect game play through random events, or optimize tactical strategy through card discards. Which variant will you use in your game?

Visit the Arcana website for more information, and be sure to send your agents to claim control when the revised edition of Arcana is released in the third quarter of 2011!

Set in the vibrant city of Cadwallon, Arcana is a card game of intrigue and power for 2-4 players, pitting powerful guilds against one another in a struggle for supremacy.

I'm with RobbyReb. Aarklash is a brilliant setting. Would especially love to see a new rpg. Cadwallon was pretty funky. Also a big fan of Confrontation. A new version of that would be pretty damn good too.

As much I hate that Rackham games has capsized, I would love to see Fantasy Flight capitalize and see more games published from their Aarklash setting emerge like this and City of Thieves!

@UniversalHead: They confused me, too, but then I was told that this is the traditional iconography of the Tarot. And since Cadwallon is closely connected to this card set, it would be weird to chance it. :)

I really hoped the Military and Political icons have been swapped - I can never remember that military is the staff and political is the sword, it's crazy!

Looks great. I have one request and one request only. Please make the box size appropriate for the game and make sure the isn't just a waste of time and resources like your current cardboard inserts are of late.

I am sick to death of dumping a few components into a huge gaping box of your otherwise good games.

One of the benefits of the old silverline box size that it originally came with was that it was portable and made sense. I can't see how 2 more factions is going to merit a much larger box size other than to have yet more retail shelf swallowing presence.

I've almost pulled the trigger on the first version many times. Reviews haven't been the best. I so love this artwork though. And I think I'll probably purchase it now. Obviously FFG  thought it was worth the trouble to revise and re-release.
