| Arkham Horror | Published 17 February 2011 | Rating | 40 votes |

A recent find at Miskatonic University has unearthed even more mysteries pertaining to the strange happenings in Arkham, Massachusetts. While the worshippers of the Ancient One grow in strength, the stalwart defenders of this sleepy town are put to the ultimate test.
Fantasy Flight Games is pleased to announce the upcoming release of Miskatonic Horror, an expansion for Arkham Horror. The fight against the unknown forces of the cosmos is far from over, and those that thought they stood a chance against the mythos have a lesson to learn.
Miskatonic Horror is a new type of Arkham Horror expansion that builds upon the materials found in the ample library of other Arkham Horror expansions. While the components and rules found in Miskatonic Horror can be enjoyed with only the Arkham Horror base game, the more expansions you incorporate, the more aspects of Miskatonic Horror you can enjoy.
With nearly 450 new cards, Miskatonic Horror adds new Mythos and Location cards for Dunwich, Kingsport, and Innsmouth, as well as new cards for Gates, Epic Battles, Relationships, Injuries, Madness, Skills, Blights, and much more. Miskatonic Horror provides new materials for every Arkham Horror expansion.

Miskatonic Horror includes:
Just a Taste of the Coming Terrors
As you can see, Miskatonic Horror is packed with new material for the Arkham Horror base game and each of its expansions. Whether you're looking to expand your Arkham Horror base game, or enhance your expansions, Miskatonic Horror is a veritable library of new material.
To get an idea of how your Arkham Horror expansions can be enhanced by Miskatonic Horror, let's take a look at what's in store for players seeking to learn more about the mysterious cult in The Black Goat of the Woods.
The Black Goat of the Woods expansion adds several new features to Arkham Horror, such as corruption cards and the “One of the Thousand” cult membership cards. Miskatonic Horror further expands the presence of this elusive cult by adding a new deck of Cult Encounter cards to be added to those found in The Black Goat of the Woods.

Players must discover the secrets of this growing cult presence in Arkham, but in order to learn its secrets they must infiltrate the secret society. When investigators choose to join the “One of the Thousand” cult, they must draw alternative Encounter cards when snooping around the darker corners of Arkham.
The Cult Encounter deck from The Black Goat of the Woods adds an exciting twist to your normal encounters, and Miskatonic Horror enhances this by delving further into the cult and drawing players deeper into the story that surrounds it
New to the Town
In addition to the cards, Miskatonic Horror also includes player reference sheets to easily keep track of the different happenings in Arkham that correlate with the number of players. These sheets will tell you how many Gates can be open, the Monster Limit (in both the streets and the Outskirts), and how many monsters appear when a Gate opens, all based on the number of investigators present.
Finally, Miskatonic Horror introduces the Institution variant. Similar to the Herald and Guardian variants introduced in earlier expansions, the Institution variant allows players to choose an Institution sheet to incorporate into their game. Several powerful organizations exist in Arkham, each one with their own agenda. When using the Institution variant, one of these organizations is put into play and that Institution will provide investigators with new options and benefits during their game. Stay tuned for more information on these influential Institutions, and what they can do for your investigation.
Open the doors to Miskatonic University and experience the new discoveries that await you with Miskatonic Horror. Whether you're looking to expand your base game, or anxious to enhance each of your Arkham Horror expansions, Miskatonic Horror will deliver. But beware... the terrors that lie inside are expanding, and soon you will see more of what lies in wait for your future Arkham Horror experiences.
Arkham Horror is a board game
of mystery and madness set in Arkham in the 1920's. 1-8 players cooperate to investigate the strange happenings about the town, and race to prevent ancient evil from surfacing.
Sounds great - though I wish you would produce an 'all new box insert' to accomodate the billions of tokens and cards this game has.
I hope this does well - Descent could benefit greatly from this, especially with their campaign games.
Even though I have some spare room in my case, I may have to build a new one to accomodate another 450 cards! Yikes!
Ia! Praise Cthulhu! This is the expansion I had always hoped for: an addition to other expansion material! This.... this is like a dream come true! IA IA!!!
Excuse me for the excessive use of exclamation marks.
WOW, I only have the core game...going to have to start saving up for this and the other expansions...!
Oh, wow. Does this mean we will be able to play all 8 expansions at the same time?
There's a few other games they have that could use this kind of treatment.
This is a brilliant idea for an expansion! What a great way to add new excitement (and madness) to the older expansions that we already own and love. I can't wait!
Yippee. Like others have to wait and see but if this creates more options to play (the institutions) and "refresh/deepen feel of" various expansions etc., wheeeee!
Rob
I think they should do this for Runebound. The big-box expansions are especially in need of new cards. This would rock!!!
This news was the best way to wake up in a really long long time. The idea to expand every expansion and maybe balance it up a bit was the perfect gift to any Arkham Horror player, myself included.
This is a must buy!
WOW!!!
This is a very pleasant surprise!!I cannot wait.
Thank you very much,FFG,for keeping up the support for the greatest board game ever!!!
Wow, amazing! That type of expansion we need for Talisman and the BSG board game after all "regular" expansions are released. For BSG it should include: new Cylon leaders.
