Official Dust Tactics Tournament rules now available
Dust Tactics | Published 04 February 2011

The war for Earth’s dwindling resources is opening up to new players and venues. Will you test your battlefield savvy against a host of fresh challengers? Get ready, because your training begins now.

The first official Dust Tactics Tournament Rules (pdf, 782 kb) can now be downloaded from the Dust Tactics support page.

Learning the Rules of Conflict

This is essential reading for anyone interested in running, or competing in, an official Dust Tactics tournament. The rules include recommendations for both players and Tournament Organizers, a tournament tracking sheet for participants, and a fresh set of official army point costs for all the units available to date. These army point values will be used from this point forward in all official Dust Tactics tournaments and events, and override the army point value printed on each unit's current card.

Special Resources for Retailers

If you're a retailer looking to build a local community of Dust Tactics players at your store, this is a fantastic resource. Whether you run a one-day, in-store tournament, or establish a weekly play group using our recently announced Dust Tactics Winter Game Night Kit, this will help you kick-start and manage the event. (If you're a retailer with questions about our Game Night kits, or want more information about building up a regular group at your store, email [email protected] for ideas and assistance.)

Don’t wander on to the battlefield without gathering all the available intel – visit the Dust Tactics support page and prepare yourself for war!

Dust Tactics is a tactical miniatures game of brutal combat for 2-4 players. Based on the popular universe created by artist Paolo Parente, Dust Tactics presents an alternate 1940s reality in which alien technology fuels gigantic machines of war, and the world's superpowers clash over rare mineral deposits that could ultimately decide the outcome of WWII.

@ Winter 49

Yeah I hear you. I was a little "pig headed" but we can both agree we love the game and we both hope it really takes off.

Ok - lets agree to disagree about the expanasion and some of the decision making at FFG.

I think we both agree its a great product and are really pleased that they are rolling out more stuff. Its a great product and I really hope it takes off.

Rrrrright..........

Because you know the mind of every store owner, and it's primarily a board game, yes they said they are going to release miniature rules but it's not a priority right now. I don't want PDF tiles or rulebooks I want the real thing. Nobody is putting a gun to your head if you think the FIRST expantion is too pricey then don't buy it.

Sorry your right - I may have been ignorant. It appears from the information we have that for $40 or £30 you will get 2 model hero's, some tiles that show landing craft (thus are only any use for mission that include landing craft) and a cheaply made mission book that will include rules for a few more units. Nothing wrong with the hero's, additional tiles and extra missions (which should really be PDF downloads anyway). I guess there could be something that really adds to the game - like table top rules that moves the game from the 'Starter set' in a think glossy mannual (like frost bite) but I doubt it.

But really - do you think your local game store owner will be pushing this! I can image them saying -  There's big things ahead for Dust Tactics - 2 plastic hero and landing tiles are coming out and only at $40.  I love the game (although it needs to development), its sad to see things that will attract no one and Store owners can't use to promote the development of the game beyond the starter set. Its also a rip off.  Just view the comments on the expanison.

Anyone from FFG reading this - any chance that the 1:48 models will get points values and maybe new stats (to bring them up to date)?

Let me say that "Winter 79" doesn't speak for the rest of the fans, "operation cyclone is rubbish and will kill the game" is comepletely ignorant and has no factual base. Good to see a steady stream of support for this game. Well done FFG.

What will be the standard point amounts for tournaments?

I like the approach a lot, but I would like to know some things:

What about the Bot Hunter / Tank Killer unit?? I thought they will be released in february, bur they are not listed in the Army Point Cost List.

What is the suggested Army Point Total for a common Army?

[ADMIN: The Tournament Rules have been updated with both Bot Hunter/Tank Killers, as well as suggested army point totals.]

This also has given me a reason to buy more Recon boys . I didnt want to using the stater point values as i couldn't see the point  of them. Now that i can get two squads for the same price as a BBQ makes all the difference.

Well Done FFG and Dust - lets hope this is the start of reason at the heart of the way forward. This is the first great news (basically I'm talking about actually setting up points system thats more complex than in the starter set - and it appears correctly the BBQ squard is very very good they are twice as good as recon and they are only 5 points less than a LUTHER which is about right, after several nights of playing the game) we have had since we saw how great the starter set is and after playing realised its actually more fun than it appears from the reading the rules.
Now let’s move forward with the expansions (As in actually release some) and can we please have some proper expansions (as how AEG were going to release mixed with the individual unit boxes) that expand the rules. The Operation Cyclone is rubbish and will kill the game. You need to have something more than the starter set to pull people in. And units boxes will not be enough. Learn the lesson from AT-43, few will pay over the olds for a small unit boxes of standard plastic troops (and these aren’t even pre-painted) , make your money from high end resin kits and hero units that supports a game were standard stuff comes in army boxes and great eye catching expansions (along with standard unit boxes to support).
Oh and another thing – two resin kits released – where are the revised points. Don’t do things that we annoy your customer base. Be sensible and release rules for the resin kits 1:48. Don’t build barrier in the game – it won’t work, to make the game profitable you will need every thing you have
Sorry only meant to write two lines – oh well these things needed to be said.
