“This deity, who the savages take pains never to name, not only safeguards the forbidden but also seeks out those who’ve stolen such learning, to snuff out their lives and close the circle once more.”
- From The Passing of Forbidden Knowledge, part four of The Rituals of the Order, by Jeff Tidball
Fantasy Flight Games is pleased to announce the latest Asylum Pack for Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game! Aspirations of Ascension is the fourth illuminating chapter of the new expansion cycle, The Rituals of the Order, coming this spring. For more information on the design philosophy of this expansion cycle, be sure to read "Rituals of Power", designer James Hata’s introduction to the series.
Master of Blades
The Silver Twilight has plenty of magic at its disposal, but sometimes it just needs muscle. Enter the Master of Blades whose speed and combat strength make him an acolyte of power in the ranks of The Order. Reckless Assault and Elder Binding add more control capabilities to the Silver Twilight's arsenal.
Speedy deployment is the theme of this Asylum Pack as cards like Devil's Reef, Special Agent Clarkston, Johnny V's Dame, and others reduce the cost to play certain subtypes within their factions. The ongoing development of synergy for the Criminal subtype sharpens with the introduction of the Godfather, Johnny Valone, whose thugs can keep even terrifying monsters out of stories if "The Boss" says so.
Existing strategies will be tested and interesting new modes will enter the Call of Cthulhu metagame through Aspirations of Ascension.
The tale of Lucy Jennings continues in the serial tale by Jeff Tidball included in this Asylum Pack. The journey of Lucy Jennings, society debutante and Silver Twilight initiate, descends further into darkness as Lucy discovers that the price of knowledge is blood.
The Order of the Silver Twilight will do anything for its pursuit of the secrets of the universe. Will you? Find out this spring with the release of Aspirations of Ascension...
Based on the fiction of H.P. Lovecraft and his literary circle, Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game takes two players deep into the Cthulhu Mythos where investigators clash with the Ancient Ones and Elder Gods for the fate of the world. The Living Card Game format allows players to customize their gaming experience with monthly Asylum Pack expansions to the core game.
