Runebound | Published 24 June 2010

“You are a stranger to these lands,” the mahkim said, his eyes narrowing. “You must learn the ways of the jungle before it swallows you. Many of my people will not hesitate to end your expeditions should they interfere with our rituals. But, should you aid us...we may just be able to cleanse Zanaga of Tarakhe once and for all!”

Welcome to the jungle!

Mists of Zanaga, FFG’s newest Runebound expansion, will be in stores soon. Runebound players can now prepare themselves for a whole new world of adventure! Stop by the Runebound support page to download the rules (pdf, 2.8 mb).

Tarakhe is corrupting everything on the forgotten continent of Zanaga, from native tribes to once-docile beasts. It is now the most savage of wilderness. To survive, you must first learn the ways...

Runebound is a fantasy adventure game for 2-6 players in which heroes race about the lands of Terrinoth in an attempt to prevent the resurrection of the evil Dragonlord, Margath. As they encounter the various creatures and traps about the countryside, they will gain new skills and may acquire an exciting array of allies, weapons, and armor to assist them.

The new mechanics are innovative and fresh!  A similar mechanic to this that would keep the AO hidden for a while in Arkham Horror would be great too.

The encounters include some interesting twists too.   I hope this breathes new life into the franchise.

The only downside is that all the small box encounters won't be compatible (unless FFG decides to go back and add terrain markers to those cards), but any items or characters should still be compatible, I believe.
