We hope that those of you who were able to get out to your FLGS for Free RPG Day had a good time and enjoyed your journey to the planet Landsholm through this early preview of Deathwatch.

For those of you who did not get a chance to check out Deathwatch: Final Sanction on Saturday, please visit our Deathwatch Support Page to download a PDF copy of Final Sanction. Or download your copy below:

On our Support Page you can also find bonus characters and a link to the Final Sanction FAQ.

The Fantasy Flight Games Event Center would also like to thank everyone who attended our Free RPG Day celebration, featuring a lively Q&A session with Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay design team Sam Stewart (Rogue Trader), Mack Martin (Dark Heresy), and Ross Watson (Deathwatch), as well as three play-with-the-designer sessions.

Thanks to everyone for playing Deathwatch! Watch this space for more information and previews of Deathwatch as we approach its release later this year.

Deathwatch is a roleplaying game in which players take on the roles of the bio-engineered super-soldiers known as Space Marines. United with their battle-brothers, players will complete extraordinary missions involving some of the greatest heroes and deadliest opponents the Warhammer 40,000 universe has to offer.

I'm pretty sure the Devastator marine should have been a Dark Angel (not move special ability) and the Assault marine should have been a Blood Angel (h2h frenzy special ability) but hey why not break the mould...

But hey I had a ball laying heavy bolter fire down on hoards of plebes

Can't wait to make up my own marine...

Compliments for the adventure, well done!

Some maps could help.

If the Devastator gets jumped by a genestealer, he'll be glad of that ability. ;) And don't forget all Marines have a combat knife.

After reading the Final Sanction pdf, I'm pretty impressed. Astartes are suitably tough (even if AP 8 seems a little low) and the actual adventure is nicely open-ended.

I'm definitely making the Hordes mechanic an option for my RT campaign.

Just a thought, but I feel that it's really bizarre to have the blood angel be a devastator if his one unique ability only serves him in close combat. I feel like that ability should be something that applies to any type of attack.

Continuing my previous comment....

On second thought, I guess it's not just the Marine guns that have gotten bigger, though; both the lasguns and heavy stubbers statted up in the adventure have more kick than their DH and RT counterparts, and the stats for the Rebel Generals' plasma pistols don't jibe with anything I've seen before.  I wonder if all of this is to make Deathwatch just that little bit more epic, and if so, I wonder if we'll get rules for scaling DH and RT weapons up to Deathwatch (or vice versa) at some point.

Looks like a fun, tense adventure.  I'll ask my gaming group if anyone wants to play it in the next few days.

One of the things I found interesting was how the profile for Genestealers has changed since Creatures Anathema.  I wonder whether this was just a simplification for the benefit of the quickstart rules, or whether it was a conscious effort to make the genestealers more capable of damaging the Marines without being unbeatable.  Or both.

Also?  For those of us coming in from Dark Heresy and Rogue Trader, Space Marine guns are RIDICULOUS.  I can see why the change would be made, so that a Space Marine doesn't do more damage stabbing someone with an icepick than he would shooting them with his bolter, but I'm still not sure whether I'm comfortable with the idea of an Astartes bolt pistol or bolter having more punch than the heavy bolter everyone else gets.  Also, why do the bolt pistol, bolter, and heavy bolter all have the same Penetration?

Walker, also bear in mind that FFG used to release information and teasers much sooner in their release time tables than they do now.  I think it may be much of the negative commentary that forced their hand and causes them to now wait until a product is completed and virtually ready for shipping to distributors before they start feeding us goodies (previews, downloads, etc.)

As far as Drivethrurpg goes, I believe all of FFG's purchase product that comes out on PDF is released through this website; is it inconcievable that they may be doing good business with a preferred partner by letting them have first shot at downloading the file, helping to garner more customers for the other (paid) pdfs???

It's a shame that you WILL find these free stuff for sale in ebay & such, even sometimes in Amazon - for big bucks!

I really love FFG for all that kind of things like - free adventures and demos. That's why this is my favourite company!

Walker, Free RPG day is a promotional day to get people to go to Gaming Stores. None of the big companies their free materials as downloads on the day of the event. They want to boost business for retailers.

Because as much as i love FFG and all their products they tend to be abit slow in releasing details the fact that Drivethrurpg released this before the main FFG website shows that the product was ready to go but for some reason FFG couldn't release this. As the free RPG day was saturday but we don't get the product until late tuesday (i'm in the UK) you have to wonder about the release schedule.

"Still pretty bad that Drivethrurpg got it on their website about a full working day ahead of the company that produces the actual product."
