Secrets of Arkham, the first Deluxe expansion for the Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game, is now on sale at your local retailer and on our webstore! Today, the Call of Cthulhu card game deepens with 100 cards new to the LCG metagame (2 copies of each of 50 cards), featuring 6 unique cards for each faction and 8 neutral cards.
The new cards in Secrets of Arkham bring a host of deckbuilding opportunities for players looking to expand the horizons of their game. New "tribal" synergy deck options open up through additional support for the Deep One, Mi-Go, and other subtypes, as well as for the Day and Night mechanic.Additionally, this set introduces a wealth of utility neutral cards that will easily find their way into lots of different kinds of decks. Cards like Diseased Sewer Rats and Feint will become indispensable in the new metagame.
Secrets of Arkham also features a new 10-card story deck that players can use in place of the original story deck! These story cards feature large, global effects, that players will fight hard to trigger... or prevent from happening.
Based on the fiction of H.P. Lovecraft and his literary circle, Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game takes two players deep into the Cthulhu Mythos where investigators clash with the Ancient Ones and Elder Gods for the fate of the world. The Living Card Game format allows players to customize their gaming experience with monthly Asylum Pack expansions to the core game.
For now, I'm playing mostly with my wife, taking different factions (and fighting over the neutrals... >_<), so splitting two is inconvenient. I suppose that makes sense though, like a community-building thing. It just seemed like an odd decision considering the move to full-triplicate asylum packs.
Two copies of each card is VERY reasonable. It means you and a friend can go in together on three boxes and get a full playset each for a total of $37.50 per person. Be glad that this value exists the recent Assault on Ulthuan expansion for Warhammer Invasion DOESN'T have two of each card (for reasons I cannot even begin to fathom, as it was announced and developed after several other LCG expansions with two of every card, including this one), requiring each individual player to spend $90 for a playset JUST for themselves. Ridiculous.
This was in development before the new LCG 3x each card format was announced. Like the others said, find a buddy and split the cost, or buy 2 and sell a set.

You should cooperate with a friend to purchase 3 of the boxes together, so both of you will end up with a playset. This method perhaps has an advantage on building a playing community. Or hasn't.
Anyway, I got my boxes a few hours ago, and now I'm smiling constantly. Excellent contents, esspecially for Yoggie.
I'm loving the new cards that have been previewed. Now story cards is always a plus, and tribal synergies are right up my alley. Can't wait to see these hit the table!
