Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game is a card game by Eric M. Lang in which 2 players develop their kingdoms and lay waste to their foes. Each side is comprised of either the forces of Order or the forces of Destruction as they seek to extend their empire to include the entire Old World. The Living Card Game® format allows players to customize their gaming experience with monthly Battle Pack expansions to the core game.
Quote: Well, it makes sense in the way that the event in Essen will be a German national championship and not a German open and is sponsored by HDS and not FFG.
I suppose that is fair enough, but if I end up being responsible fo the UK National Event, it won't matter who is sponsoring it, it will be an Open event, all welcome. :)
... and before I forget: There will be the event in Castle Stahleck, organized by thorondor, on October 8-10th 2010. Players from all over Europe will meet at this beautiful caste beside the Rhine and play A Game of Thrones, Call of Cthulhu and Warhammer Invasion. See http://www.mischraum.de for some impressions (site still contains the 2009 data(
Just one more thing: according to some posts on the Heidelberger forum, more events are one the way. Like European championship and other more international tournaments. But Heidelberger is still at the beginning of organizing official play so no information is out yet. Remember that this tournament at Cologne was the first official event in Germany.
I guess there will be opportunities for you to take a trip to Germany without qualifying and using cards in your language.

Well that kind of blows on both counts really, I have to go to Germany and qualify, plus I have to use German language cards. Oh well, no trip to Germany for me then.
As far as I understand, you won't be able to play at the German nationals, if you don't qualify. There will also be a German-card-only rule for the tournament at Essen (although HDS will provide you with the German cards if you qualify and don't have German cards and send in a decklist).
The time, places and rules for the other qualifying tournaments have not been announced yet.
Will all the qualifier events be in Germany though? It' along way to go if I don't qualify........ :)
No, there will be more opportunities to qualify for the German championships. This event only filled the first two slots with the winners of each day, as it was the first official event.
So we can't enter the Nationals if we weren't at this event then? That seems a bit restictive and self defeating really. I have great memories of German National events, as I'm sure ChaosChild does too, and would love to head out for more card gaming with our Euro bretheren.
I was there on Saturday. Great tournament, a lot of newbies participating, who played the game for the first time on that day. (One of those newbies made second place on Saturday). Dark Elves were dominating on Saturday (3 out of 4 in the semifinals), but in the end Chaos won (beating me in the semis, and beating the newbie in the finals).
There were special rules for this tournament. Each player received a deck consisting of only one race, no neutrals, and each product only once. So you could only reduce your deck, and some strategies wouldn't work because of the lack of neutrals. There was also a very short timelimit of 30 minutes for all games except the final and small final (places 3 and 4).
It was kind of like a mixture between tournament and promotion for newbies with a lot of peopley trying the game for the first time. Thanks to Heidelberger for this great event and the generous prizes (everybody got Warhammer Invasion T-shirts and the top 3 received coupouns worth 30, 50 and 100 Euros).
@Meggypeggs: There are 2 regional championships coming up next month in the UK. Check the forums for details.
This was not player arranger, it was done by Heidelberger, german distributer.
It was the starting qualification for the german championship...which will be in Essen at the "Spiel" fair
...and it was a great success. Great duels...leading races were Dark Elves and Chaos.
