Announcing Fury of the Bear, an expansion for Tide of Iron
Tide Of Iron | Published 15 April 2010

It is June 22, 1941...

Operation Barbarossa has commenced and the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union has begun. Employing over 4.5 million troops, Germany’s invasion spreads across an 1800 mile front. Pressing forward, the Germans seek to claim territory up to the Arkhangelsk-Astrakhan line. These two Soviet cities mark the proposed eastern border of the Reich. The Soviets, however, have no intention of going quietly.

Despite Soviet defenses, Germany continued to gain momentum from successes in other areas. Operation Typhoon began, targeting Moscow. But once again, Soviet defense forces pushed Germany back. A counter-attack would soon follow...

Fantasy Flight Games is pleased to announce Fury of the Bear, an upcoming expansion to Tide of Iron! Take command of the Germans or the Soviet forces as war on the Eastern Front begins.

The Fury of the Bear expansion for Tide of Iron builds on an already epic game experience by adding the forces of an entirely new nation, as well as new vehicles, winter terrain, scenarios, and more! Featuring nearly 100 plastic figures for the Soviet army, plus new German figures, tokens, cards, and 9 new Eastern Front map boards, the Fury of the Bear expansion will let you experience Tide of Iron in an entirely new way.

In addition, Fury of the Bear will also offer exciting new mechanics, such as a combined strategy deck, a system of counter intelligence known as subversion, and all-new specialization types! Keep checking back! In the coming weeks we will explore these aspects of Fury of the Bear with a series of previews leading up to its release.

With all these additions, not to mention the most tanks of any Tide of Iron release, Fury of the Bear will expand your options and challenge your strategies!

This summer, the invasion begins. Are you prepared to face the fury of a nation?

Tide of Iron is an epic board game of tactical WWII combat that grants 2-4 players control of either American or German military forces, pitting squads of fighting men and vehicles against each other in one of several scenarios.

I just hope I'm still drawing breath by the time they release one of the preview articles for Fury of the Bear.

I've read the initial release article, like 42 times now. I think I have it memorized.

I guess when they stated that there would be preview articles in the coming weeks, they must have meant a whole lot of weeks from then.

I bought this game because a Pacific theatre expansion was promised.  It will sit on my shelf until then.  Given the length of time it took for this expansion to be released, I hope I am still drawing breath when the next is out.  I hope the time taken is indicitive of the quality.  But Fantasy Flight is the Nintendo of board game companies: consistent~ their games are always released months, even years, after the initial release date, but they always rock.

(Sorry for my very bad english...)

I waiting this announse too long.

Almost lost hope. Very glad, thanks FGG, go on forward.

Want massive and various russian army. More german tanks surely not needed, already got many.

IMHO, there be urban close combat and snipers, and huge tank battles. By the way, i hope there be no stereotype like "beat the germans by shower of tons fresh meat".

Its a little pity, that only a 9 new maps included. But most likely all be a show maps, and huge 12 maps scenarious can be played on old summer maps.

About scenarios - good if there be a 8-10, example, 4-6 sngle wintersummer scenarios and winter campaign on 4 scenarios, like in Normandy Expansion.

In all - with russian front game now look much more interesting and complete. Now wait japanies and ideal will be absolute close. :-)

Drop your linnen' and start your grinnin'!!!!!!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, once this game goes Eastern Front, it's going to be a monster!

I really think Tide of Iron is on it's way to being the new defining wargame of an old hobby in search of a new begining.

Ubber top quality components joined together with an ultra playable game system...Charles Roberts would  be proud!

Ahh now the system feels complete. Can't wait. Plus a new editor would be wonderful.
