A character preview for The Highland, an upcoming Talisman expansion

A man of legend, the Highlander has made himself known throughout the realms. Stories of his courage and feats of strength are told in awe. He has braved the Crags on many occasions and has even ventured into the furthest reaches of the Chasm and returned in one piece.

Other stories are told about the Highlander in whispers; mocking stories of how he once knocked himself unconscious when battling a wild boar, or when he charged into a horde of skeletons only to throw himself off a cliff. Of course, these stories are never told in his presence.

As rumors of the great power awaiting in The Highland continue to attract new adventures, it’s time to take a look at another character willing to brave the domain of the Eagle King. First we looked at the resourceful Alchemist, and two weeks ago we witnessed the seductive power of the Vampiress. Today we will look at the mighty Highlander.

Talisman veterans will certainly have heard of this enigmatic wanderer. No stranger to inhospitable environments, the Highlander knows the twisting paths of the Crags and has seen the depths of the Chasm. His knowledge of the land gives him the option to not roll a die when he lands on either the Crags or the Chasm.

A ruthless protector of his home, the Highlander may also draw additional Adventure cards while in the Hills. If a battle ensues, the Highlander can choose to charge, enabling him to add +2 to his attack score. However, if he does so, his recklessness will cost him his next turn!

Keep your eyes on the horizon as the journey to The Highland looms ever closer!

Talisman is a classic board game of adventuring in which journeys through the lands in search of the powerful Crown of Command. Take control of one of several different characters from a powerful Troll to a magical Druid, and enter a beloved world of fantasy adventure!

Why is ppl goin on and on about the Highlander movie when it has nothing at all to do with what a highlander really is.

And even though I love Queen the theme to Braveheart would be the song to play since that is what a highlander really is. A classic scottish clanleader or fighter.

I hope that we see some cards in the next preview:)

We have seen 3 characters now, so it would be nice to see something different :)

This is great! Cannot wait to get my hands on this expansion and give the Highlander a jaunt through Talisman slaying as he goes!

"There can be only one!" ... incorrect though as it turned out: There was another four dreadful movies made (not to mention the series which was itself pretty poor IMHO). I think that if I randomly draw this character I'll have to play the Queen song "It's a kind of magic" on the stereo ...
