Legends say all magic in the land comes from an enchanted stream that flows from the tallest mountain. Atop the tallest peaks, the magical waters are at their most pure and potent, and the banks are littered with precious gems. But one must beware, for within the Highland dwells the feared Eagle King, guardian of the source of magic...
Last month, we announced the upcoming release of The Highland, a new expansion for the beloved board game Talisman. The Highland adds a whole new Region to the game for heroes to explore. A custom-fitted map board and over 100 new cards bring this mountainous realm vividly to life, while six brand-new characters, each represented with a superbly detailed plastic miniature, offer fantastic new playing experiences.
Today, in the first of several previews of this exciting ascent to the realm of the formidable Eagle King, we’ll catch a glimpse of one of six new characters joining the adventure, the clever and resourceful Alchemist.
An inventive, dedicated master of the arcane sciences who relentlessly pursues esoteric knowledge, the Alchemist has unraveled the mysteries of physical matter. He can discard his redundant or otherwise useless Object Cards to fill his coin purse with gold!

As if that weren’t enough, the Alchemist can then use his mastery of elixirs to convert his gold into any one of several helpful potions... even on the same turn in which he created that gold! In short, the Alchemist is a man of resources, and wherever his quests take him, he’s unlikely to find himself wanting for the means to get things done.
Keep checking back! In future previews, we’ll take a look at several more characters, as well as some of the hazards and rewards awaiting you in The Highland!
Talisman is a classic board game of adventuring in which journeys through the lands in search of the powerful Crown of Command. Take control of one of several different characters from a powerful Troll to a magical Druid, and enter a beloved world of fantasy adventure!
Although poorly illustrated, interesting character. Finally some use for all that gold :)
I hope that the Carrions ( who bring you to the lost City space in the mountains) is included for the mainboard:)
And the Harpie event card too ! :).
I look forward to the next previews !
So maybe May it is, this supplement looks interesting.
Heidelberger (German partner) has it listed as May... take that as you will.
any release date listed yet?
very nice. we sometimes random 5 or 6 characters out each now and let players pick the best from their pile.
Nice powers. The alchemy use from gold to potions is pretty nice too.
Nice! Can't wait to see the new char in Action.
The Alchemist looks great !
I like his abilities :)
FFG did a good job, and he is better than the 3th edition version :)
Interesting. My initial thought was that it was overpowered but maybe not. Certainly a new set of skills not seen elsewhere.
I would have liked to see him miss a turn when he does he alchemising to tone him down a touch though.
I agree I wish I could draw like Felicia, did she do the character? I love her stuff but disappointed with this, it is like all the character representations; poor.
This is a similar characterisation by Felicia that is great:

I've reached a point where I've started excluding some of the characters from the pick at the start of the game because they are just too powerful, particularly for two player games. The easy spell gains in particular irk me.
If I could draw half as well as Felicia Cano I would be a very happy man.
