“The blood of the First Men still flows in the veins of the Starks, and we hold to the belief that the man who passes the sentence should swing the sword. If you would take a man’s life, you owe it to him to look into his eyes and hear his final words. And if you cannot bear to do that, then perhaps the man does not deserve to die.”
–Eddard Stark, A Game of Thrones
Prepare for a long winter. Lords of Winter, the latest deluxe expansion for A Game of Thrones: The Card Game, will take the cold honor of House Stark to new heights this spring!
The Lords of Winter expansion contains 165 cards (3 copies each of 55 cards), including Eddard and Catelyn Stark, Winterfell, and “The King of the North,” Robb Stark. Players of other houses will also find a wealth of new strategies, tactics, and deck-building options.
Finally, as an introduction to the art of customizing a deck, Lords of Winter offers deck lists for two exciting theme decks, one featuring the Tullys of Riverrun, and the other featuring the Direwolves of the North.
This spring, a cold northerly wind will chill tabletops everywhere. Do you have the stomach to look a man in the eye before you swing the sword?
Based on George R.R. Martin's bestselling fantasy epic, A Song of Ice and Fire, A Game of Thrones: The Card Game brings the beloved heroes, villains, locations, and events of the world of Westeros to life through innovative game mechanics and the highly strategic game play. The Living Card Game™ format allows players to customize their gaming experience with monthly Chapter Pack expansions to the core game.
Cool. I really want to play this game. I only play whit the demo decks because is don`t sale in my country. I want to ask if FFG will merchandise the LCG products in Latin America (specially Guatemala) because I really like the way you create the games rules.
AS far as being behind other houses, this expansion would actually put all 5 of the other houses "behind," as Stark would have the largest card pool in the game. However, this is not as big a deal as it was in the past, since after PotS was released, it definitely put Martell into the game, just as KotS made Greyjoy a powerhouse. LoW will most likely give Stark some better strategies and options, and may for a time make them a more powerful presence in the game, but I think not. More than anything else, I suspect this set will be Stark more options, which is a good thing, and that we'll have to see how the game moves forward from here. Perhaps the next cycle of CPs will carry a few less Stark cards to compensate (but I doubt it).
The cover looks great...I'm preaty certain that all next deluxe expansions will be also painted by Tomasz Jędruszek
I can't wait to see stone direwolf :-)
Ok, now I agree about the "behind" :-)
Behind means less cards than the other houses... The Greyjoy and Martell Core were supposed to balance the number of options and cards for all the houses, because of the Base Core Set. If FFG are going to restart a cycle of House Cores, there will be always a House which will have more options than the others, and Greyjoy and Martell will be the last again in regain the balance.
Don't know why exactly but the cover looks magnificent
The only bad thing about this is that we have to wait a few months before we can buy it :(
behind? I don't think so... as a Greyjoy player I'm very very happy of my house... My first house is stark but at the moment I feel it weaker then grey in military... and related to intrigue house I prefer martell compared with lanni (the only house that I don't play cause in my mind is boring)
I don't believe it, again Martell and Greyjoy behind the other houses???
Is this a starter pack? Or just a big add-on?
Super sweet! Can't wait for this and hopefully we'll also get a Stark house card, like Greyjoy and Martell got. Plus, love the fact that it is x3 of every card. I suspect it will be $30, but that is totally worth it.
Awesome, I was not expecting this. My favorite House in the books, very happy to see this. I wanna build a Direwolves deck.
I hope this expansion addresses many of the complaints voiced by North American Stark players. Another winter (season) mechanic aside from the current attachment one would be super too.
