Hooray for the city!  My wishes:

  • freer movement than other boards
  • training available
  • elite purchase deck (and many shops)
  • a random ending where gold is useful (or required)
  • a short cut to the centre (but not a boss fight)
  • laws which can be broken (with consequences)
  • large coins worth five gold each
  • new player vs player interaction

I'd add dark fate to my wish list (I can't wait for that), but honestly that deserves to be a feature mechanic; probably in a small box expansion.

Hooray indeed!  However, I am getting so very tired of speculation. I want my City now, gosh gosh!

I like your ideas, though and would appreciate you illuminating them for us:

New Player vs player interaction - what does this mean?

Dark Fate, yes, we want it. Any ideas or speculation? anyone?

I really like Crimheads wishes.

The only one I'm a bit sceptic about is yet another shortcut to the centre. But make it a quick royal escort to the caste (close to portal of power) and I'm all game.

Large 5-gold coin would be very sweet. Why not make them to look like small bags of gold? And chests for 10-gold tokens =)

I too hope for more player-vs-player interaction. Except for spells, landing on other characters and the chivalic knight, there is very lite interaction. "Dark fate" could be a beginning to this, or some other mechanics to make the other players more involved when it's not their turn.

Also, I hope there is some large tower included in the city, where I can put my dice-tower =D

I want more ways to affect my opponents without encountering them.  The Reaper and Werewolf have been good for this, but in the City perhaps I could pay somebody to dole out curses, or I could land another player in legal trouble which would hurt their reputation - perhaps ban them from the village, tavern, church, and Places until they've traveled to the courts and cleared their name (probably with a bribe).

I don't really want to speculate too much - I'm sure the FFG crew have all sorts of wonderful ideas.

As for another shortcut, I just want to be sure the city is useful and not a distraction.  Perhaps by paying the enchantress (or potion brewer) an obscene amount of gold they will teleport you - but that would be more speculation  :)

I think in the 2nd edition, the Enchantress could teleport you into the Timescape thing, maybe the Crown/Command? I don't remember.

Yeah, I feel that you could have a non player character in certain aspects of the City; ie a Sheriff or authority type. Like certain movement mechanics in the City make him encounter you. You either have a roll, or maybe you can purchase a license or form that gives you a safe status.

BTW, I love speculating, though I'm sure its really just my own ideas or wish list.

There could be another non player, didn't the second edition have the King disguised as a beggar who roamed around?

I like mundane consequences; imprisionment, banning from public establishments or the church, etc. This brings to mind that redemption can happen, if one undertakes other quests (escorting other Royal family members, like the Queen, from the City to the Castle, or delivering a lot of money to the Chapel. Either of these could be a Follower that has to be rolled every turn to make sure that Brigands or Thieves don't try to take the Queen or the big loot?)

Indeed, I bet they are aiming to release it just in time for Christmas. But still.. if they are going to have time for a couple of Headlines the should start pretty  soon shouldn't they?

I mean, Blood Moon had 5 announcements before finally being released 2 months after the initial announcement.

Blood Moon did have a number of announcements and released in about 2 months, maybe a little longer.

A part  of me wants to believe that The City is so much more than we have expected (or maybe exactly what we WANT!) that it will take to the last minute to be ready by Christmas.  So, around October 21st, or maybe it won't be under the tree?

But to my other thoughts; maybe the board will be larger and wrap all around the board (not the same dimensions as Dungeon and Highland).

Last minute thoughts or regrets?

I would of thought the box art would be one of the last steps in the production process… Weird!
