Oh yea, and Talisman TALISMANS. Replace your talisman card with the legendary, mythical, METAL, ultra cool, ACTUAL, TALISMAN!!!
Arrrrrrr!
I only look like a civilised person from the outside. In fact I'm still hunter-gatherer at heart
.
As the advent of convenience stores rendered most of my skills obsolete I hunt and gather books, games, miniatures, coins, tarot decks, dice and pretty much anything else I can put my hands on... It's an instinct and I can't really help it.
Therefore I will be compelled to buy anything that will be released for Talisman even if it would be "Talisman - Hello Kitty"
.
But seriously. I don't really like an idea of promo (i.e. limited edition) stuff. I bought Talisman some year too late to get Doppleganger and Instructor. And I didn't liked it at all. OK, so I got lucky and found them on ebay for a moderate price, but... What if I had to pay few hundred bucks for them? Not an easy choice for obsesive collector, eh?
Special (not limited, mind you) edition is something different. As many before me said, I would love to get my hands on a collector's box to hold all my cards and dice and boards. I would love it to contain printed versions of exclusive online cards (not many so far but let's hope there will be more). Real metal coins with Talisman logo and metal figures also sounds delicious
.
Booster packs between smaller and larger box expansions would be an excellent way to hold the attention of less dedicated players and ease the wait periods for maniacs like myself. Themed boosters - yes. Random boosters - NO! It works for Magic the Gathering because it has different gameplay. For one it's a valid strategy to have doubles or quintuples of some cards in your deck. If you don't need some cards from a booster you can trade or sell them because everyone has different decks, different strategies and different styles of playing. In Talisman you don't really need ten Wild Boars or 40 Bags of Gold (unless you play insane, 25 people games like we used to in the club
).
So, themed and named boosters with 20-30 cards - all exactly the same in each pack. Titles - so you can easily identify which pack you already have. "The Dungeon - Level 2" or "The Frostmarch - Frostbites" or similar
. You could buy one or more if you're planning bigger games or just like this particular theme.
Still awake? Good. I just finished
.
Nre'fa-o hunt brothers.
