More cards is certainly good for more variety.  From game to game, it means you won't seen the same cards come up.  Typically, with 2 people, the wife and I almost never get through just the base deck, let alone all if we add all the extra cards purchased or homemade. With 4 people, its close with 200+ cards.  So maybe (?) the average game might get through 50 cards per player,  tops.... but perhaps a little less when the Dungeon is played as well.  I also imagine it is less with some of these faster games I hear about.

The only minor downside is if there are certain cards that are important to and endgame, or preferred by a players group. If only one or two of such are in the deck, the bigger the deck gets, the smaller the chance those needed or preferred cards will appear.

I don't foresee Talisman ever having a "commercial" endgame that would require a certain set of Adventure cards; if it ever did, that goodness for those expansion marks, so one could easily thin down to the base deck for such a special type of game.

Part 2

Spell Cards

There are still a handful of cards that we don't have yet.

Here they come...

Brainwave, Meta Morph, Mind Steal, Lighting Bolt, Feeble Mind, Mini Vortex, Spell Turning, Syphon, Temporary Change, Curse, Way of the Lotus, Bolster

(+ Warp Gate for timescape only...)

Now that Frostmarch has been released, let's update the spells that we still need..

Spell cards update

Mind Steal, Lighting Bolt, Feeble Mind, Mini Vortex, Spell Turning,  Temporary Change, Curse, Way of the Lotus,

(+ Warp Gate for timescape only...)

So we need only 8 a 9 spell cards until we have them all

I would also like to see more reprints of old favourites.  (I suspect, for example, that Judge and Taxation will appear in a new City expansion.)

However, note that many of the reprints we have already seen are different in functionality from the original card of the same name, sometimes to the point of being entirely new cards in effect (eg Howl of the Wendigo and Astral Conjunction).  In most cases, though, I am happy with the changes, including the decision to reprint 3rd edition Centaur rather than 2nd edition.

You have a point about the Judge and Taxation.

The best location for that, is the City expansion.

The other cards that would be a spot for that region will be Halloween, Secret Door and Man at arms

Also Vampire's like to stalk late in the night on streets, where humans walk by..

I like to bite someone in the neck

Volcano and the Harpies, will probably be coming with the Mountain expansion

It will make the most sense But you never know off course..

1. Talisman – base game
2. The Reaper - 128 cards
3. The Dungeon – some thematic cards as Lesser Demon or Cave Troll has been take from Reaper - 128 Dungeon cards + the rest
4. The Frostmarch – 128 cards
5. Mountains – new corner board and new harder/mystic way to get CoC by high Mountains - some thematic cards would be taken from Frostmarch (and Mountains/Forrest from 3rd edition) – 128 Mountains card + the rest (Spells + Dungeon cards and base game cards)
6. The Denizens – 128 cards – expansions about Denizens of the land of Talisman - we do not know much about them yet. Why some of them are going to take the magical crown? Do they have alleys in common people? What about King’s favorite? There can be more applications for alignment and benefits from it - good characters can be supported by good denizens while evil ones can find alleys in bad guys. More ways to spend a gold on the main board and more interacting with other characters. Stronger enemies also nice viewed.
7. The City - 128 City cards and lots for Purchase Desk + new powerful characters which can be changed in only in the City by completing some quests.
8. Dragons – 128 cards including lots of strong enemies cards from Purchase Desk, new thematic Spells and of course Dragon King - the Red one form base game box should appear as a appear as a Alternative Ending.
9. The Wastelands - new corner board – imagine that land of Talisman is surrounded by great Sea where Strom River runs… On the Great Sea there are many islands some of them are friendly some very dangerous. In this expansion can be used new mechanics (as in was in Timescape). Characters can travel but do not know on which island strong wind will take them. At last island character can find Old Dragon the one who knows the way of flying to CoC and if he defeated and enslaved him he can become of dragon raider. Then on an Old Dragon’s crest it can fly to CoC space… It would be 4th way of getting CoC: main board way, via high Mountains, by dungeons and at least by air.
10. The Tower – 128 cards – increasing the difficulties of reaching the CoC space by main board.

For the moment all small expansions had sall 128 cards (including Adventure + Spells + Warlock Quests etc.) and 4 characters. Big ones 128 Adventure + the rest so about 150 small cards + 5 characters. I think it will be continued in the future so at the end we can receive very nice set .

I also hope that all retro cards will apear in this revised edition and changes will be for better only (not like Spider which lost it's web abbility ). Of course I wait also for new cards and think that this edition have potential to be the greatest . All the arts are superb.

I agree.

There is only a handful ( 28) retro cards left for mainboard . (not counting from regions yet)

That's not much, compare to expansions(reaper, Frostmarch) that have 90 adventure cards each

Luckily, we can use house rules, to give the cards their real nasty ability back !

Now tell me how many cards the adventure cards deck will have at the end.

Probably enough to kill somebody if the deck falls from a cupboard on his head.

Fear is the mind-killer.
