I'm just a little more into the extended universe stuff. Though I look forward to more ABY stuff I still look forward to more variety in factions

I just don't want to see TIE Advanced Fighters having to fend off Droid Tri-Fighters, or X-Wings mowing down swarms of Aethersprite fighters that were built for a group of people that have been purged long before the either the TIE or the X-Wing was designed.

knowing FFG they would find a way to keep it balanced lol. we just differ in opinion. i think it just adds more creativity and from their point of view could draw in more gamers who enjoy the different eras. like it or not there r still ppl out there who like ep. 1-3 (not saying im one) and maybe even "the old republic" may appear. i think FFG will recognize that and how limited they r when they r only restricted to the last 3 episodes. Id be all for legacy era stuff to poke through and yuuzhan vong wars. why limit yourself when the SW universe is so huge. sure you can expand upon merc and finge factions, they were def big in the current time period. but im just sayin further down the road id like to see some expanded universe come into play.

I'm not worried about balance, as much as the fact that a great deal of these fighters would be rare in the contemporary era, if not completely gone.  The Jedi ships, for example, were rare even at the height of their production.

In no particular order I'd like to see

TIE Defender

Z-95 Headhunter

TIE Bomber

B-Wing

Outrider

StarViper class (The Virago)

Nebulon Ranger (dating myself a little there in terms of the universe)

Jedi Starfighter

TIE Phantom (Rebel Assault 2)

TIE/D Fighter

E-Wing

And… that's about it.  I'd love a giant Star Destroyer and a Nebulon B Frigate as well, but those would be very large if they stick anywhere close to scale.

While it may be true that Love can kill, Hate can never save.

Well, a couple thoughts on that:

First, I think FFG feels the way you do and their intent is to keep things accurate to era. That's easy enough in the big picture: just make that the only "tournament-legal" way to match squads (does anyone else think "squads" is a weird term for these?). Delving into the Prequels should require basically a second release.

That said, I think a Clone Wars starter/product line should be completely compatible with X-Wing itself. If people want to play mix 'n' match on their dining room table, that's their decision. Hell, that was a selling point of the WotC Star Wars minis game, after all. You don't like it, then hook up with friends who don't like it either - and keep it pure. But there shouldn't be constraints on how folks can shake it up (except, as mentioned, "officially").

It should be a whole new Starter, though. Many fans are interested in only one era or the other, and I'd imagine there are those who haven't bought into X-Wing but who WOULD pick up Clone Wars (to the utter horror of some of the folks on these boards). Same rules, same movement templates, different ships & greeblies.

EDIT: Oh, yeah - there would be some crossovers possible, though. The most obvious existing one is the Firespray, Slave-I having been prominent in both movies. The Millenium Falcon was also seen in the Prequels, as the Stellar Envoy. The Z-95 Headhunter and V-wing could easily see duty, as canon, in either era. So, Good Times!

Thus do I undo all Gordian Knots!

Of course, that 'selling point' is what made the game seem sloppy to me.  Of course, the bent miniatures and curled sabers added to the funky wayered down D20 system didn't help.

 my list:

-TIE Bomber (with maybe 2 slots for missiles, and very sucky movements, kinda similiar to the Ywing. Was thinking somewhere along the lines of 2-2-5-0 kinda stats)

-TIE defender

-Lamda class shuttle. But keep it escorty/ mission based kinda stuff, like that cardboard token. ie maybe give it 1 shooting if you really want to, then 2 agility and 6 hp 3 shields etc

-Bwing? dun really like the ship design though.

-Naboo starfighter, droid starfighter, jedi starfighter, etc stuff from the prequels (please don't kill me, im in my early 20s and i grew up watching the prequels 1st, although i agree they mostly suck in comparison with the trilogy)

-one Rebel Blockade Runner to scale with the ships would be freaking awesome though.

I would like to see the Yuuzhan Vong introduced as a faction in the near future. I know the ships are ugly as sin, but I think it would be a nice new set of play options. Not only by introducing a new faction, but new tactics. The Vong work differently than other era ships and it is my hope the rules would reflect this.

Having said that I hope Clone War Era is next, and I really like the idea of setting it up as Old Republic vs Separatist (not Trade Federation, they were absorbed into the Separatist after the war started).

Could one of you B-Wing fans please explain the fascination with the Craft? I just don't get it.

I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, nor violence to anyone, but they've always worked for me.

It's never been one of my "favorite" Star Wars ships (unlike the A-Wing and ARC-170), but it is distinctly Star Wars.

I honestly don't think that FFG will include the Z-95 Headhunter into this game unless they add in new timelines and factions.  It just doesn't seem to fit well into the balance or point system of the current system.  My reasons are as follows:

1)  It has less firepower, less shields, less armor, less maneuverability and less speed than the X-Wing.  Keeping this in mind and you'd probably get a ship of stats - Pilot 4, Firepower 2, Agility 2, Armor 2-3, Shields 1 and a slot for missiles.  If you put this into the point calculator, you get around 8-10 points per ship.

2)  The cheap price will allow Rebels to swarm with them like the Empire can do with the TIEs (albeit, more slowly).  This blurs the lines between the two factions instead of giving each their individual feel (Rebels are slower and more sturdy where the imperials are faster and harder to hit).  I do not believe that there needs to be a 1 to 1 match for balance purposes.  Point cost handles balance.

3)  It looks too much like the X-Wing.

I hope I'm wrong as I think it'd be a neat addition to the game.  Could make for a cheap missile platform.

As ubiquitous as the Imperial (Lambda) Shuttles were in the movies, I don't see them as having a place in the game as anything else than a cardboard objective.

The B-Wing and TIE Bomber will have to be put in game.  Figure any ship featured in the movies will have to be in game.

Figuring all that, I think the final two expansions will ONLY be the B-Wing and TIE Bomber.  After that, I'll assume that new factions and/or new timelines will be introduced.
